    Anyone out there in DP land know if Yahoo Group links are searched
    the same way any other website links are searched? are they considered
    back links for your site?

    I don't think yahoo group link has any effect for google, msn or other SE ranking.

    I think links Yahoo groups have a no follow tag, if so, then they have no affect

    Yahoo backlinks (if they exist) are useless in google's ranking, but having them helps in the Serps when searched using Yahoo Search. Same with Windows Live Search.

    Yahoo shows all the backlinks it has indexed, but google index all the links and shows those links on good page ranked pages..
