I have submitted to quite a few directories recently and received a few email asking for conformation and a few plain emails back, However these emails back are for 5 out of 100 directories. Does this mean My submissions were rejected?. If not how to we know if our submissions are excepted?

Well it seems either they were rejected or they just have not gone through yet.

I personally never use directory submissions. I simply do not need them. If you are trying to get some good backlinks to your site you can find much better options. Try getting backlinks on high PR sites that have been around for a while and choose your anchor text carefully. There are not many phrases I cannot rank for using my system below.

Try using a service that provides screenshots of each submission.

I agree that directories are not very effective links. A while back those links were good, but search engines have since placed less weight on directory links.

Some directory submissions do take a long time for approval. So you have to be patient. Really the only way to know if your website is approved is if you receive an approval e-mail or if you manually check the directory a while later. Some directory links will show up in your backlinks reported by Google and/or Yahoo. It is best to just submit it and forget it. There is not much point in trying to do anything about a directory that does not accept your website.

    Hi,

Getting 5 mails out of 100 doesnt means that your site has been rejected for the remaining 95 directories.
There are several kinds of directories:
*some which send the mails as son as submissions are done.
*some which send mail after a span of 7-10 days.
*some which send after 15 days.
*some which do not send mails at all.

I suggest please do not worry about. you will be getting as many links in some time.

    hope this helps you out...:)

    regards
