Hi everyone! I have a simple form in my website where peolpe can send an email requesting a catalogue. Until now I haven't received any spam by that form. Recently I sarted to receive some. From my understanding this is automatic crawlers that search these forms and put the data there. I have 2 questions: 1-I try to find resources on web to study better this problem, but no luck. Anyone knows good articles on this? 2- How can I stop this spam to happen. How can I do it? Thanks in advance António
the first line of defense is some type of challenge-response system (like image-verification - captcha), or a sessions/ticket system in the form will stop most automated requests. secondly, you can create a word filter system for the email subject/body. third, you can use a blacklist system. fouth, you can insititute an email validation whitelist (not recommended for commercial sites). This requires the visitor to validate their email address with your whitelist. This means that when they submit a form, your server sends them an email, requiring them to send one back manually. Then they are put on the whitelist and you get their email and any future emails. If they fail to manually validate within a certain period of time, the email is deleted.
Hi all! Thanks for the help! We install a captcha system and will see how it will work. Thanks again. António
