    1) try to explain to them why they should renew the domain. don't try to rip them off (and i'm not saying you are ;) )

    2) if they don't want to renew and they have some traffic, you could renew them yourself and park them and maybe make some "parking money"

    good luck!

Educate them about the importance of have company website and give them some benefit of having company website. And offer them a low renewal fee to encourage them to renew their expired domain.

If they're in your name and they're not ready to renew them, that's their luck. If they're premium domains in high quality TLD's such as .net, .org or .com, don't let them slide, put them up for auction on Sedo.com or Moniker.com up to a month before or whenever you have a firm idea that they don't intend to renew the domain registration, because they'll likely get eaten up by other domain registrars or individual domainers after they pop into someone's drop list or database. Automated software buys domains these days quite often, neat, huh?

Toss them in several places and if you are going to sell them leave them with a high buy now price and medium bid price. For instance, if I owned newspaper.com I would sell it on sedo or moniker for a buy now price of 500,000$ and then let anyone who's bid I accept put the domain in auction (only if on sedo) to maximize the funds. On this site and others it's acceptable to post domains for sale for offers and also in auction when you have it listed for sale on another site as long as you state it in this manner and don't agree to sell exclusively in one place. For instance, don't sell your domains on ebay unless you have a reserve price that's more than you think it's worth or others think it's worth. Get as many opinions as you can from forums, esitbot and nameboy are crappy appraisal services, so try dnforum.com and the appraisal section here at DigitalPoint.

Good Luck and may you make a ton of money off the domains if you registered them or if you know they're about to lapse. If you know they're about to lapse and the individual with the site isn't going to renew it, push it to another registrar in your name if you're handling the business. It's not exactly illegal as they've no intent on using it further than the renewal date and pay you before then to renew the registration. They can gripe, but if they don't contact you to renew and pay you, it's yours, though kind of shady. I'd re-register it near the date after I pushed it with an anonymity host if I did this and tell them 3 months from the renewal point when it lapse that someone else bought it. Heh, many domain registrars do this, networksolutions etc etc.
