i have problem in displaying special characters(œ, Œ , … , etc ) in textarea

    Hi All,

    i have problem in displaying special characters(œ, Œ , … , etc ) in textarea in a page which are turned into ? mark instead of special char's.

    I'm using the charset- utf-8.

    any help wil be appreciated.

    Not enough information to solve your problem. Normally it works fine. So something you are doing (or failing to do) is causing a problem. Some things to check:

    1) Are you sending the correct Content-Type header?

    2) If you are retrieving the content from the database, do you have a clear UTF-8 path to the database?

    3) If you are using htmlentities() or htmlspecialchars() in your textarea-drawing function (and I hope you are), did you remember to use the encoding parameter?

    aloso make sure you are saving all files as utf-8 as some IDE save files as iso 8859-1 by default
