I've never used Ubuntu. Always been a red hat fan though. Linux is great and is 100 times more secure than Windows. If there were more programs offered for linux i'd probably use it on my main computer as well..
I found this on DIGG today. Getting Started With Linux http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,297501,00.html
If he is talking about Vista then he is right. If not then everything is true except the security issue.
No, Vista is still an insecure pile of trash, it's just slightly more secure that XP. Anyone claiming that Windows is more than secure than linux is either joking or stupid. Linux also has more features, and has always had, it's just not as easy to get to them.
i just got an apple mac book i have been a windows user all my life but i guess thats the reason am taking a bit of time to settle down with mac. only issue if any is finding free s/w but yes no more worries of virus and all.. i use to hate virus coming on windows out of no where just coz there are so many around
Linux is better with Security then Windows because they tend to patch things within hours and not have to wait for a corporation to release a patch whenever it decides too.
Linux is better in security nto because of that reason but because they use a different boot process to run the OS.
I would really give Linux a closer try on the desktop if this wasn't the best choice for graphics editor on Linux... and it appears to be. I really, really, need photoshop
Back up your statment with facts. Can you prove a bug thats wiping out Vista machines? Can you give evidence of one or multiple crashes? Or are you speaking from the top of your head? Come on man if you do not have some basic proof to back up your argument how do you expect people to buy it?
It is hot here, trying ubuntu so far. windows have better human interface of course. but ubuntu is free
Same here. Can't forget about the rest of the adobe line also not to mention MS Office which is the my most used application currently.
With the release of Adobe Flex for Linux this week I can see more Adobe software available for Linux in the future.
Like most things it takes time to get used to new things. There is no difference if your starting a new OS. Use Linux for a month and you will ask yourself what took you so long.
