    many friends on your facebook..doesnt mean you popular...because what if they just add you but you dont known them and they dont know you.
    just add your close friends and accepts the one you really know

    I have 2 accounts on facebook
    in one random friends are added and in one only close friends and relatives
    so I am popular in my 2nd account :)

    By more friends, if you mean in 100s, then try to contact them once or twice a week and try to find out what they are upto. Most of the people update their status on facebook, by saying about their daily life, keep commenting on those statuses. Be an active member, by sending a flower or gift to the ones who have their birthdays. Write something good about some group admin in his own group. Do such things daily, you will get the popularity ;)
