    I do not want to use any intermediary website. I want to sell direct. person to person. It is more secure for me.

    If you want to sell direct you have to set up a marketing page and then promote the crap out of it so that people looking for domains find your page - all while sedo and flippa are promoting themselves and have a distinct advantage. What you save on commission you'll send many times over on adwords and facebook ads

    Not necessarily, I may be doing market research on my amazing new idea and am doing my due diligence when up pops a result which is the perfect domain for sale
    and so many registrars - how do you get them all to refer their customers to you?

    Domainers often like to set up a simple one page site on each one. It shows that you really own it and they are for sale. Provide your contact info.

    Then market the heck out of them. GoDaddy is another good auction. Make it for a short, 7-day auction if you need to. Add a "Buy Now" option if you want.
