Hi all, Basically, I have just set up my own mock campaign to test the average cost per click on some keywords I was researching by setting up an actual campaign (This was because I didnt know until just now that there was a tool to do this on adwords). As soon as I created the campaign I paused it just in case someone clicked on it, because I didnt want them to. I entered the keywords I was researching and then about 5 minutes later I deleted the campaign and keywords. I went back to the main menu and had been charged £56 for about 15 clicks. I then refreshed a minute later to check it was not a mistake and it went up to £96 for 24 clicks. All this happened on a campaign that was paused as soon as it was created and on a campaign that was not meant to be real...and even after I deleted it. How do I get this money back that is now on my account and who do I contact at Google? I have emailed them but i've heard they never reply. I have also found a phone number but they arent open for 3 days because of the bank holiday. Hope someone can help and thanks for taking the time to read my post. Thanks all, Nick.
Was this a content ad? If it is then the servers take the ad and start serving their inventory and it takes time for everything to stop even once you stop your campaign. If it was a search ad - this should not have happened if you immediately halted it.
I put a max of $25 per click and a daily budget of $1000 because I wanted to see the max CPC for a few terms I thought up. I already have an adwords campaign set up which has been running about 2 weeks (that was my first one) and that budget is $3 a day for the moment so I would have thought such a massive increase in budget would trigger something that would ask me whether I could actually afford the change. What do you think my chances are of getting a refund for this huge mistake?
lol , $5 per click already can go to top 1 for most of keyword , why test with $25 perclick . the click already count i think very hard to claim back your money. But you can try , contact google use the "contact us" link at below your adword account , explain say u are put 0.25 per click but accidentally miss the dot . may be can claim back some money .
Yea I see that $25 was a lot per click but the keywords I was researching cost that much on average. I got a reply email back from the adwords help dept. with an answer totally unrealated to me problem. Guess ill have to try again with them.
