A year or two ago I came across an article where a person calculated the possibility of earth being developed by an explosion which created life on earth, based on have everything so perfect for life to function your odds are like 1 in 700,000,000 or 1 in a billion chance of that happening.
Amen to that. There is no perfect man to run for President. The ideas, principles and track record as they pertain to the office matter. Oh really? Were you there? Got any photos? Tell us the story.
HAHAH! Not that I disagree with you, but I would love to see some physical, empirical evidence proving the occurence of the big bang theory. if that existed then there wouldn't be this controversy dude. On a completely different note, and in response to the post that started this thread, I'm actually starting an online community to try and foster a relationship between the average American citizen and political activism. The site is called Write In Your Vote and it allows US Candidates at any level (federal, state, local) to run a campaign in a relevant environment. Of course Voters are welcome too. Users can create politcal parties, interest groups, petitions, contact and lobby their representatives, blog, debate issues, create and rank the top issues facing the country, record and post opinion/response videos, submit and rate news stories and videos, watch the latest politcal news and read the latest rss feeds, and a bunch more. In about a week, I'll also be adding a huge suite of interactivity applications like IMs, video IMs, video conferencing with whiteboard, and about 5 more. Now you might be thinking, this sounds cool, but not cool enough to attract the everyday citizen..... and you're right. I've got a secret weapon that will be launching around January 15th though. Until then, you'll just have to wait and wonder... I'm hoping that once the site is complete, people will use it to it's full potential. I'm offering my help to my Country in the way I know best. I can see this actually having an impact on US politics if it becomes as popular as I'm forecasting... I'm writing this because this post was originally about Ron Paul. Look at this dude! Regardless of whether you think he's crazy or not, he has already used the internet to change US politics! Every time he sets out to raise money (nov 5th, dec. 16th, etc..) it seems like he sets a new record for fundraising! Until him (and now me ), nobody has taken advantage of the power of the internet in such a way! peace
While I am disappointed in what Paul said here, it's quite irrelevant to the position of president. I also think it's somewhat a confused thing because you should note that when they asked the candidates if they believe in evolution at the debate that Ron Paul indicated he indeed does believe in evolution. His campaign also responded to this video saying that he does believe in evolution. I think what he's referring to here is more HOW evolution has occurred rather than whether it has occurred. And that's what confuses people. The exact way that evolution has occurred is not known for a fact (that's the "theory" aspect) what is known for a fact is that evolution has occurred.
Hey Mister Athiest Blog sometimes people share different views this doesn't make them retarded. ....Except when they say stuff like this LOL
Haha Christians, you really do make a fool of yourselves haha, the big bang has loads of evidence and 99% of scientists accept it. It is also in the Quran. http://www.big-bang-theory.com/
Scientific theorys are generally considered pretty much fact. Since you say the big bang is bogus, what started the universe?
Not at all. Christians religiously believe in evolution. People can believe anything they want, I am all for 1st amendment (unlike your Popes and Presidents). But as far as I am concerned, there isn't anything wrong with unbiased science and common logic, and Christianity has no place for either one. Oh yeah... And anything minus 20% is still greater than zero :scratching head smiley goes here:
What do you mean he believes life came randomly? Are you talking about the origin of life? Just because it has no direct effect on his day to day work doesn't make it irrelevent. Having an invisible friend called freddy wouldn't have much effect on decesion making, I doubt you would call it an "irrelevent" claim though.
we all came from a bug and just kept evolving and evolving. how that bug got there? we don't know. it just was there one day. is that right?
evolution and The Theory of Evolution are two different things. Theories are not facts, they are educated guesses based on a preponderance of fact. It is not a fact until it can be proven repeatably in some sort of lab. Evolution is a fact because things evolve, The Theory of Evolution is a theory because the exact number of variables and the nature of the process of evolution and how much of the worlds diversity it really accounts for is not yet a fact. It is a good theory because so far the facts seem to point that way, and when I was taught about evolution in an American school in the south, I already knew the difference between a fact, a hypothesis, and a theory. Global warming is another one of these little "facts" that is often misunderstood. The world does get warmer sometimes and as such globe is now getting warmer is a fact, if and how much mankind really contributes to this is still under dispute. P.S Since Ron wants to put states back in control of their education and take the Feds out of it, it doesn't really matter what he thinks about evolution.
I don't get why does it really matter if policiticans believe in Evolutions or not. Seriously you going to vote or not vote for a guy because he believes in Evolution?
Crazy isnt it? Some people would rather vote for a neocon pro war guy that believes in evolution lol.
