Hello , I have just donated 20$ to wikipedia . wikipedia one of the most important sites in the world and its one of the biggest sources for information - as you all know - . I decided to give wikipedia 20$ which is a very small amount of money .
That is very kind and nice of you. I wish I could donate to organizations like this more frequently but at the moment, it can be a struggle just making ends meet.
I was feeling very festive the other day and i splashed out and donated a fiver I've noticed lots of charity adverts on the tv today so i will probably be giving them a few quid as well Merry Christmas
So they spend almost $6 million yearly. Now I wonder what they'd make if they became Adsense publishers
raham33, the server costs and moderation for editing page is probably out of this world. They supply such a helpful website that ANYONE can use for information, and find it very easily, rather than going to a book or watching a movie.
WoW, wikipedia spending $6 million dollars per year for the convenience of all internet users. That's why, we should donate some $$$ to it...
That was indeed a very kind gesture......buddy. A help is a help...it can never be quantified to be big or small.... It is the attitude that counts.... Regards, RightMan
The Independent By Mark Hughes I felt a moral obligation to contribute as I consult wiki pages almost daily. Jimmy Wales says that the money will pay for: * Day-to-day operations: servers, hosting, bandwidth, our staff of just 23 people. * Continued development & improvements of open source software that powers all Wikimedia projects. * Outreach events like Wikipedia Academies: in-person workshops where you can learn more about how to use and edit Wikipedia. * Volunteer support: helping our international volunteer community to grow and to continue to do amazing work.
