Hello, I heard people saying to get backlinks by commenting on blogs related to your niche. Now I tried that too and have some questions regarding it. 1) Some blogs gives you option to comment as "name/URL", so is url is enough or you need to also put your link in comment too? 2) If just putting URL in URL field is enough, what you do when this option is not available? Do you just submit your link in comments and isn't spamming? 3) I know its been asked many times, but it takes me a while to know which blog is nofollow or dofollow. I use SEO Doctor and squirt .. firefox addon and I am having troubles locating the info. Any good plug-in for firefox that just tells you :dofollow: or :nofollow: Thanks

1) Putting link in comment might not be indexed by search engine, it's better in URL field. 2) you can try to put it in code (if and depend what html or bb code is allowed in comment, so that way 'mask the link'. But most usually in this cases links are not allowed nowhere when post comment. 3) Search for NoDoFollow addon for firefox.. it's the best plugin for this purpose..
One thing I have not heard anyone say is to try putting up the links then checking to see how they point back to you in webmaster tools or using some sort of link checking software. If you start noticing backlinks from a site you posted on and when you goto the site you see that the links are dofollow then you know you are getting picked up by the site and passing juice with the link. This relieves a lot of time researching.
Thanks for your response but I think I am still not clear about point 1) and 3) because I got 2 opposing answers for point 1) and for 3) does nofollow really helps increase your ranking? @Jon, can you check webmaster tool right away after posting a comment. I might take a while for results to show up in webmaster tool? Thanks all
I would avoid commenting on nofollow blogs unless they have a lot of traffic. If the blog is nofollow then your only benefit of posting on the blog is if it will bring lots of direct traffic to your site through the link. You will most likely not benefit from a nofollow link though in regards to passing link juice.
1.) If you are given a URL field then you have to submit it in URL field only. 2.) If you are not given the URL field then you can submit it in comments as well. firstly once go through the previous comments and then you will get an idea of it clearly but don't put your URL in every comment on same blog site. 3.) To check nofollow or dofollow just right click the blog site and click on view source and then find "nofollow" by using CTRL+F command if there is not any nofollow tag then it is dofollow, But do take care that sometime the nofollow tag is like rel="nofollow" and they are used to block some of the non important urls of the site so you have to go some URL in someone others' comment and check if the nofollow is associated with that URL or not if not then it is dofollow.
It takes a little while for them to show up but SEO takes time anyhow since the age of your site factors into the algorithm.
Dont put the link in the comment. Put your URL in the URL field and put the anchor text for the link in the name field. Make sure the comment is relevant to the blog message.
