There are many ways which you can use to get traffic to your site. I've been using Adwords for sometime now and I've set the following: $0.70 per click / $14/day So far my clicks costs me $0.50 per day and it has already accumulated $50 in my account. But I don't think Adwords is that effective since 1. It's bloody expensive to use 2. You get traffic but it's hard to say that will your traffic come back to your site again in the future? 3. I got hundreds of hits, but they are all new.. I believe that it's best that if you use Adwords as a branding mechanism. For example, if you see JohnChow's Adwords campaign everywhere - it must be something good. Try social media on the other hand, it's really complicated and takes time to build the trust in the media's group. Cheers! Here's my resources regarding the matter: http://michaelwoo.net/articles/marketing-on-adwords-is-darn-expensive-is-it-worth-it.html Cheers and have a great day!
What do your ads look like? Are they descriptive? Maybe people get there and figure thats not what they are looking for, so it helps you save the .50 cent click if you tell them where they are going. Good luck
I'll agree with you on using Adwords for branding. Especially when you get some content campaigns going and you're getting a million impressions a day. But for everything else I'm going to disagree. 1. Expensive is a relative term. For my clients and myself, we do spend a lot, but our ROI is great so it doesn't matter how much we spend because we are making more money than we spend and that's what's important. 2. Check your analytics to see if you are getting return visitors. For many of my sites I try to get conversions the first time a visitor comes to my site and we get a lot and it's just bonus if they keep coming back for more. 3. A big point of Adwords is to get you hundreds of new visitors to your site.
I agree with RyanR1 it's about the ROI. If you increase your quality score your bid prices could come down. You can also experiment with using very specific longer keyword terms and drop the general keywords. Adwords can be very effective it all depends on how you use it, your product offer and your landing page.
