Yes but surely people are not daft enough to purposely CLICK on white space thinking it was content - they would still click on the links? Which is what they can still do. I can understand a drop - but a drop of 3/4?
I do understand what your saying, but look at it from a users point of view: MOST ads on the web now have only clickable url/links - not description. They could of clicked on your ads description to merely scroll down the page... but then they got a click and were redirected.
I guess you have a point with the scrolling thing, but still to lose 3/4 of my clicks seems a hell of a lot!
Wait a couple of weeks and see if things bounce back or not.. if not start look for a new money maker. Honestly most sites work good with affiliate programs if it's content based. Article
I have lost a little CTR but on all sites !! If You have targeted traffic and ads are relevant to Your content You sholuld not lost CTR I have lost on 2 sites but on rests still is same
See thats the thing I KNOW 99% of my traffic is targetted and whenever I have checked my ads have been relevant. So I have targetted traffic, relevant ads, Not set up purposely to draw accidental clicks but my CTR has dropped to 1/4 of what it was, and my eCPM has dropped by almost the same amount.
take it easy people, it still to early.. personally I started facing a raise in my CTR, almost the double now... so calm down and watch out the coming weeks...
i've got almoust the same results like before if your ads are related to your content your users will still click 'em but ads would be harder to click by mistake.
I guess every publisher has it's own untargetted clicks, so everyone is losing CTR, more or less.. The idea behind it, is that Google was somehow forced by advertisers to go for this, therefor, I can't find a better solution, at least link ads are the same.
