I have an x-rated question...

An acquaintance is asking if I'd host an x-rated site on my server. He's willing to pay me quite a bit for bandwidth and drive space. I'm not worried about him spamming or anything like that. My worry is in regards to search engines.. Is this a no-no? Is there a way to keep search engines from viewing anything at all about this site? I've already gone over this with him and he understands why he cannot submit the site to search engines or be crawled in any way. He's agreed to only post images in newsgroups with the .com name on the images.

Am I looking for trouble? Is there any way to accommodate him without finding trouble?

    Thanks in advance...

I would give him his own IP at least

Hey, Joey.. Good to see ya.. Yeah, I'm definitely doing that.. But it's still from the same C-Block so I'm guessing there could be some issues...

Nice Mitsubishi site! When did you start that?

Otherwise.. More input on the porn issue is appreciated! :p

I doubt you would have any issues. As long as they have their own IP, the SE's will not penalize other IP's on the same block.

Is it your server or do you have excess space / slot on an account you're willing to give him?

Many webhosts will shut down all of your sites if you have an adult site running on it.

I have a plan that gives my 40 dedicated IPs to host 40 domains, but none can be adult or they'd close down my account and hence all of my sites.

254 other IPs are also on that class C, and I'm guessing 249 of those are completely out of your control. I doubt any search engine would ever penalize an entire class C.

Exactly. Hence why I said give him his own IP. I wouldnt worry about C-Class. Make sure you dont link to him anywhere on your sites and vice versa too. Just to be safe. Other then that, I think your save to take the money and run.

Thank you. It's a managed, dedicated server and it's okay to run whatever type of site I want.. Sounds like I'm pretty safe as long as I used a different IP.

    Thank you!
