The older one? The one with more followers? The one with a larger tweet history? Is there a metric I should look at before deciding which account to keep?? Thanks!
I'd be looking for the one with more engagement - I likes, replies and retweets as that implies human followers who care about the brand and not bots however if those replies and retweets are to mock your brand (look at @dodge and #roadkillnights) then go with the clean account
Big pet peeve for me is a business with two twitter accounts (or more!!!) good for you for cleaning this up! My first instinct would be to go with the account with the larger amount of followers as long as the audience is REAL i.e. wasn't built using an automated system. If the audience is quality and large it will benefit you better once you start posting you will see your reach & interactions grow. # of impressions should be good right away. If you would like me to take a look PM me the two accounts I'd be happy to give you some input.
I am sorry, but are you not allowed more than one? What about having several ones for several employees tweeting on your company's behalf?
Nothing against Sarah, but I have about 180 Twitter accounts. They all produce content and are tied into relevant feeds. The thing is, the power of exact match data makes social media properties like twitter accounts very powerful, I've taken down quite a few low difficulty keywords with a twitter account! Plus they index really fast!
@seangugerty - so you're saying keep both? My advice was based on the user wanting to only run one of them.
Run a twitter audit. See what one has the most real followers. https://www.twitteraudit.com/ Pin a notice on the account with the least amount of real followers. Letting them know to follow the new account. If you have a lot of real followers on both. Then you will have to run a paid promotion on the tweet, to get the message across to everyone. Twitter is very community-based. You want to have all the followers pushing social signals to a single tweet/account. (IMO)
@bobber234 according to me you must keep that a/c which has largest number of followers. Since keeping much older a/c with no followers and tweets does not make any sense, its just like starting everything from 0. With the a/c which has largest number of followers, you can start tweeting and who knows you might get chain of new followers for your twitter account.
