Hi, I was tactical enough to buy an exact match domain for the keywords and market I am targeting.. How much influence does this have on my PR and overall site SEO? (would be nice to get an estimate % amount if possible haha)
Hi McCoyh Hope you are well...it is like asking how long is a string! Having a keyword rich domain (let's say 'SEO for beginners' and your domain is seoforbeginners.com) it will help...BUT if the keyword is extremely competitive it will still take a lot of hard work to reach the top 3 of page 1. NOTE! Page 1 may have aged domains and very well SEO optimized auhtority sites = highly competitive That means it will take for a new domain a very long time if at all possible to get on page 1 of Google - unless you have the paid resourses to be able to compete at a same playing field. How did you do your keyword research? Did you check the true competition of the site on page 1 (top 3 specifically)? Otherwise you can spend a lot of time but don't see any results for a very long time if ever... When I work with my SEO clients I look with them at the following... First make sure your On-Page SEO is done well first: 1) privacy and terms page links added 2) address added 3) alt tags using using at least the keyword you try to optimize the page for 4) outbound auhtority links etc >> above is what Google wants to see from a serious site...the pages will get a score based on that and are ranked accordingly...but is not the end and all Then I will start start building quality back links for my clients over time...but with good on page SEO score you will see better results over time. Don't bother about PR, that is vanity...just concentrate on ranking your site / pages. Good luck with your SEO affords. Warm regards Arjen
@robinym: What are you talking about?? lol I'm sick? MY website I'm referring to here is a Logo and Business Card design company.. lol @ePublications: Thank you SO much! I wasn't aware of the privacy and terms pages being a big deal. I do have a policy page, but I will be sure to add a Privacy and Terms page. Any specific details regarding the page? (name of file? privacy.php? Anything special have to be on the page?) And can you describe to me what "quality" backlinks are? I am doing my very best on my two primary websites, but as knowledgeable as I feel, I know there is still a lot I have to learn. Thank you much, McCoy
It doesn't mean that it would help you a LOT.. because I have a keyword-rich website but I am still having trouble to get on first page.
Having most important keyword in domain surely helps in getting good rankings sooner than not having keyword in URL However keyword or exach match domain does not have any influence on PR.
dude.., it totally depends on the search volume.., if u have a low search volume, then with keyword specific domain you can make wonders., but if it is high competitive keyword.. then it definitely takes time around 1 or 2 years with a perfect SEO on page and off page as well.. privacy, terms & conditions page are the basic things in a website which google likes ( which provides a signal to google that this is site is authoritative). quality backlinks in the sense, get links from Good PR theme related websites., not only home page PR also the page where your website is listed or given link. and also consider the points said by @arjen. @Arjen that was great..,
I think it has a really high importance. Actually, I am not going to write an essay here, so check this out: lmgtfy.com/?q=P%C3%B4%C5%BEi%C4%8Dky+bez+dokladovania+pr%C3%ADjmu Code (markup): It's in Slovak Google, but it doesn't mind in my opinion. And I have a personal experience also. Well, I own an exact match domain name and I'm already in TOP10 Google rankings. Paradox is, that domain name has just a few weeks but it has the amazing rankings. In fact, there is a low count of backlinks that forward to my website. I got nothing more to say. Hope it helps, and also that you understand what I mean, because I am not a native speaker, as you can see.
