Well, you could start by adding your site to your DP Signature. Then find other forums and blogs where you can leave a link back to your site. You can then write a few articles and post them in some popular websites that take article submissions (make sure you leave a link to your site in the about the author section). You can also try to find other sites that are similar to yours, and exchange links. If you are really in this for the long haul, you will need to learn about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This can't be taught overnight. You will have to spend many months reading books or websites about this topic. In the meantime, if you are desperate for traffic, you can consider Google adwords. I understand what you said about articles so I would not place a link within the article? do you believe it's better to avoid having it withing the body of the article, and instead have it as an after thought if you will?
