This has to be the hardest thing i have had trouble finding resources or information on. I have three rotating banners on my site, but i don't know where to start as far as selling ad space. I want to sell ad space on my site. Where does one go to find people to purchase my ad space? I have found plenty of people offering services to help me advertise my site, but i can't seem to find the people looking to do the major advertising. So what i need to know is where to find them and then once i do, how do i convince them that my site is worth their advertising dollars? Am i just clueless or is this one of the golden questions that every website owner wants to know
So many options. - forums buy sell section - sites like text-link-ads, adbrite etc - Google Adsense, Yahoo, MSN etc. etc etc.
For starters, check out perezhilton.com as an example ... Click on their "Advertise here!" link around where their ads are placed. See how they set it up. You need a similar set up on your site. You can also check out Casale Media / Tribal Fusion / CPX Interactive if you haven't done so already. Click on their publisher's section.
Go to other sites and contact their advertisers. Give them your advertsing page's URL's, and let them know that you work with advertisers to make them happy. That's all there is to it. There are also many advertising firms that bridge advertisers with Webmasters. Here's one of many.... http://www.casalemedia.com/ You convince advertisers that you are worth advertising with by having a nice site, plenty of hits, giving them more space to advertise on, and, giving them unique ads to use like instead of the same ol' square ad you can put in a triangle ad, and, other unique-looking ads. On and on....
