I have a website: Junkaloo.com, I want to market it with no money, utilizing word of mouth, link exchanges, search engines, social networks etc. Please tell me what other free methods of marketing are possible. Thanks
Well place your website link everywhere. One place to put it is your forum signature. Put it on well know blogs. Create squiddo lenses. Create ezine articles. Thats a start. I'm pretty sure other people got lots more.
you can also use testimonials if you are an expert in your area. banner exchanges, traffic exchanges, classifieds, blog posts, forum signatures, top lists, also creating an e-zine.
As always dp members are giving out some great hints & tips, what i ahve read so far is just about all the best free ways to promote a website for free.... i would add try advertising on youtube i do with some of my website and get great results.
Here is a couple of suggestions first. There is no reason for me to join your site. You give me nothing to entice me. The listings should be able to be searched by anyone. To buy something or reply to something, they would have to sign in. This is a similar tactic used by many dating sites, They allow browsing but to see full profiles they need to register. It sparks interest in the site. The best free marketing you can do is to join related forum sites and spread the word. In your case, it would be freebie type forums, frugal living, forums, bargain forums, and deals. Become active and build trust then people will start flocking to your site because they like you. Find related niche blogs and leave relevant comments with your URL. If your comment is good, people will follow to see what you are all about. When first building a community type site, it is as much about you as your site. Once it gets rolling, the site will promote with word of mouth.
Wow. Thanks alot allout! I never heard it more clearly than this. I was actually planning on doing just what you said but never got around to it. I will most definitely do that now. I love DP!!!
Posting it as your signature in forums, and also yahoo answers. You can also submit into directories, which are made to convert traffic to your website.
Your welcome. One thing is that there is no one answer for all websites, you have to relate to the niche of the site. I have a frugal blog so I know how hard it is to get traffic to those sites but how loyal the readers are once you get them. Good Luck!
I hope my readers will be as loyal as yours. I'm still in the process of choosing a domain name, though.
Pretty much all the processes described here are "bum" marketing try googling "bum marketing" you will find tons of info...
What is the ideal traffic exchange and how should it work? Do any of you do traffic exchanges with other webmasters? If so, where do you agree to place your links/banners ? I'm currently developing OlderCrowd.com, I'm improving the site and want to give it more exposure. Sort of a PhotoBucket website without registration requirement. Anyway, I'm happy to exchange links with many of you. Thanks --OlderCrowd.com
