Hi people I have an unused vbulletin 4.x license but i don't know what to do with it . i'm not planning to sell it , just asking you guys , if you were going to have a forum , what topic you chose for the forum ?
That's really up to you, what are you interested in? You could always pick a few topics and enable a ton of RSS feeds just to build some content. You're not going to get anyone, or very few to sign up but it'll help (with a few good links) build a web presence.
Fact #1: Most forums built on 'the best subject to buid a forum on' fail. Fact #2: A forum will be far more active and informative if it was made for a purpose that the owner knows a lot about / is very involved in. These facts apply to all websites, not just forums - but forums are far more obviously good or bad to viewers purely because it's user posted content.. A dead forum is obviously dead.. So you NEED to make it engaging and interesting.. To do so, without spending more cash than you'll ever make with it, you have to have a keen interest in the subject the forum is based on. So make a list of things you enjoy, and start from there - look up your competition for each of your interests that you could base a forum on Chuckun
thank you guys , your great responses helped me a lot , but 1 major problem is that there are lots of forums on the net , they are older and more trusted with high PR , you think it's possible to compete with those forums ? here is another question : which one leads to more traffic ? 1) building a forum on a new domain 2) buying an old domain (3-4 years old domain) and setup vbulletin on that ?
Well, As far as i see, If yOu got some determination, Go For 1, Be passionate, MAke it Big at the end!! If The topic what you will be choosing suites my preference, I would be active there!! ~Exp~
