I have a question about competition on ppc

I have a website that is in a niche market. I have seen another website doing something somewhat close to what I am doing. I see their google adwords ads, and was just curious if I cliked on them hundreds of times what would that do? Would that be helping them with traffic, or hurting them for the click. I am not doing this, however I am about to start advertising with adwords and just don't want this website to be able to do this to me! I want to see all of my options before I lose any money. Thank for all the help

Click bombing in this way would be against the ToS.

It is fraud, and is not looked highly upon in this industry.

It could cost them but Adwords would hopefully catch on and chalk your actions up to click fraud and not charge their account for the bogus clicks.

So if I were to do the adwords, and the same ip address showed several time then I could dispute that and get my money back from Google? Please keep in mind I am not doing this to my competition however I am just paranoid that they will be doing this to my campaign. Going off of what you have told me, I will still go through with the adwords campaign and just keep a very close watch on ip's and start with a smaller budget to just be sure. I figured that it would be fraud and would never ever do a thing like that but I can't be sure about the competition. Thanks again

They will complain to Google about the series of questionable clicks because it cost them money. Upon completion of investigation, they will be tagged as click fraud or click bombing and Google will very likely refund their client for the questionable clicks.

What I have to say may be a cliché but don't do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you.;)

    Don't even go there!

Adwords has tools in place to prevent this tactic, so your competitor wouldn't get harmed.

Whatever you do, be ethical. After all, how would you feel if someone did this to you?

Competition isn't a bad thing. Use your competitor's ad and change it slightly for your own. If they're doing well, why not use some of their ideas?

    Hope that helps.
