Hurrah! I went from a PR 2 to a PR 3 today! Does this mean I will now start seeing a better position in google for some of my main keywords??

Not necessarily......and PR3 is usually not considered as a high PR.

Higher PR don't necessary means better position in serps.
But high PR often leads to more pages indexed by google that have the possibility to rank high.

Your toolbar PR may have just increased, but your actual PR is always changing. The toolbar has very little to do with search engine rankings. If you want better rankings, you need to focus on getting more quality back links with good anchor text. Obsessing over PR is a waste of time.

Spend your time trying to get quality related links to your site and your SERPs will go up.

Spend your time trying to get as many links as possible regardless of relevance and your PR will go up, but your SERPs probably won't.

Page rank does not have anything to do with your ranking in the search results. I have website with 0 page rank and I receive 6000 unique visitors everyday and with my other website with PR 4, I get only 50 visitors.

Having a higher pr means that google will crawl your site more often then
they would crawl a site with a slower connection.

The new PR value of 3 you are already seeing in Google Toolbar, is just an export of the last PR snapshot done by Google..
however your real PR value is updating almost all the time and jumping from 2 -> 3 is not that huge change! Just try to keep on getting more quality backlinks till you reach the next level maybe PR4/5 and am sure you will feel the difference then ;)

Yeah, but it is good time to bring those good contents for bots to crawl, then you will rank for more keywords, especially those long tail keywords.

Getting a higher pr is like a moral victory on your backlinking project. Serps seem to be a different kettle of fish

PR doesn't improve your ranking. Keep getting more backlinks to improve your Ranking.

Drop the PR thing. If you want to push your SERP higher concentrate on enriching your site with more keyword rich content
