I have a great suggestion.

I'm offering an idea which should improve the forum a lot for our new users (and many older users too).
We have one 'members only' area, and might be an even more friendly forum if we add another.

For reasons too numerous to mention, I strongly believe we need a second 'members only' area called 'Newbie Lounge', or something similar. This will give both actual Noob's and all people with simple honest (spam-free) questions a safe place to ask simple honest questions.

-Sometimes it is very easy to search for an answer and not find it in the results.
-When an end user at DP gets 'heavily slapped' by an older member, for 'any number of possible reasons', it does not make a productive, friendly or worthwhile environment.
-I strongly believe this forum would be better with some type of 'safe, friendly, Newbie Lounge' (for use by all members).

    Thank you very much,
    MGH

One worry I would have would be if area was labeled as a noob area, I can see veteran users staying away. These veterans can be quite knowledgeable and helpful in answering noobs questions.

    Valid point you have.
I was focusing on a safe place to 'avoid the wrath' of veterans.
The default setting on advanced search seems to be 'all posts' instead of 'thread titles'. This happens:

    -Question arises
-Search is done with default advanced settings (not realizing a need to change it)
-You get hundreds of worthless search results, since you weren't searching the thread titles.
-Question is posted at 'the friendly forum'
-Overly annoyed veterans 'stomp on' the end user saying 'why didn't you search?' (some examples can be more dramatic and miserable for the end user).

Also, some veterans might want to hang in a 'Newbie Lounge' and help them out. I might be wrong, but still think it would improve DP.

    Thanks.

I guess a big board can be quite initmidating so maybe it could work well indeed. Those 'veterans' you mention who get annoyed can then choose to stay out and those willing to help can choose to go in.

Then again, n00bs should search and shouldn't be offended by troll-like behaviour either.

I'm 50/50 on this, it could be good though.

if you 've use DNforum, you will see why a noob forum is not a good idea.

Guy who know stuff won't go there because nothing 's new. Noobs confuse each other with rumor and old information

Post # doesn't mean anything, i am just sad little people who have no life. I was noobs and still a noobs

sorry to hear that, me too was n00b, but now, im a expert, in confusing n00bs. :D
jokes apart, I don think this is really needed as people can easily get what they want just by a simple search. If they still have confussion, they can ask for clarification in any related forums.
    just my 2cents.
