I have a general blog, what are the best link building techniques?

I have a blog where I talk mostly about finance and real estate. I already have decent traffic but my page rank sucks, any advise?

Other than directories that are SEO friendly I can't think of profitable ways to create link development.

you can also use bookmarking sites to get backlinks.

 

yes start doing social bookmarking it will get you traffic, submit your blog to blog directories, blog commenting

 

As Pointed out, social bookmarking will get you traffic as well as rankings. Also commenting on others blog is another way of doing it.

Besides all these things, article submission to various directories would also be of help.

 

Comment on other Blogs,
Start Posting in Finance related forums with your blog signature at the bottom.

 

Search for relevant blogs and leave a comment . This creates a back link and traffic from that blog too. Also request a link exchange with similar blogs that have high PR .This will help you get a boost in your PR and eventually some traffic too

 

search for top blogs of your niche and start comment on them, also you can try to contact the owners of this blogs ask for exchange links.

Finance and real estate are both very highly competitive. Outside of looking at the buy/sell/trade section, I would suggest contacting other similar bloggers to be possibly added to their blogroll.

If your content is interesting and good, then you'll probably find many people link to you as they find your site.

Take part in related forums and post the link in your sig.

Sponsor real estate/finance templates

Take part in social bookmarking sites and provide good, relevant content

Why did I get a trojan when I clicked on the 'Unnoficial' directory of web-based tools link in your sig?

 

I would put it into Receive Links. Just pick a category/language and you can limit it to category and/or language as well. This in turn gets you points that you can use to get links to any site you want in the same fashion. IE, you can get links from just certain categories and/or languages or go global and just get lots of links.

I would add an AddThis button to it. If its wordpress there is an easy addon on the wordpress site to do this easly.

 

You can build links through article submissions.

 

I would suggest that start participating in forums related to your domain... Forums provide a good way to increase traffic as well as links...
