first, build it to a great strength (10,000 + members) start your newsletters, make premium sections, start paid credits systems. you might earn even $500 by that.
With 10,000 members you could easily be earning $1000+ if you tried! I would say initially do some advertising on blogs, forums, everywhere, get some members, then introduce a unique service to your site that you believe members should have to pay for! If you charge $5 then all you need is 10 new members a month!
Everything you need to succeed is easily searched on google and on forums. SEO. ...forum posting ..... link exchanges... directories...viral marketing....freebies...competitions....banner exchange networks....ppc adverts....social marketing and bookmarking....blog... Just get out there and read it !
Money is directly related to your traffic. The more traffic you have, the more money you make. I see no reason why you could not make $50 a month off of your forum, if its get enough traffic. But whether your forum gets traffic or not is dependent on how well you promote it. It all boils down to - promotion + traffic = money. Most forums take at least a year before they really take off. So do not expect over night success.
Hello, i felt the same about the marketing when i frst started, i put my link in my signature, like you should od and make lots of good posts. Also after 3 months and 550 posts i dont make anything so you are probably a long way away from $50 a month. Also i've learnt that if you do paid forum posting, put a link in your sig, that way you gte paid to advertise, you can then use your money to buy links on sites for your forum. Also you can advertise on my forum if you want, sig links and get 5 posts you can ask for a review of your site by the members.

Do you mean your forum is just created with less than 100 active member? If yes then you're way to long to earn $50 from your forum. But somehow your forum is popular and have PR then i'm sure people will come to your forum and buy link. Other than that,you can earn more by offering sticky thread at your forum.

Hey there, I'm on my way to creating a new forum, but I know not to expect making profit right away... it's something that will take time and good budgeting skills in order to succeed. As well, if I can advise you on DP forums... go check the B/T/S Section of the DP thread (as well check the business section). This is the best palce to pick up some work. The marketing section does indeed have some offers available, but you'll have better chances with the others. Good luck
with forums you can earn a lot. don't think of earning $50 think of earning $50000. it will take very long time to earn if u have no investment, if u have some good investment, you can earn this money with in some time. the best way to promote your forum is link building.
