I downloaded a template two weeks ago and I have been modifying it ever since. I replaced file by file and color by color. Nothing major. My site is now ready, but a few problems are occurring now. 1. It has problems in Internet Explorer. I think something called float drop. 2. The scrolling banner doesn't always scroll. 3. The page loads strange. Certain things come up while others just disappear for a while. I also have a few HTML related things that I wanted to ask. 1. Where should I put ad words if I want some? On the sides? 2. Where should I put a news box? 3. How do I duplicate a mini box for my copyright to go in? I want another box that resembles the original. http://www.newshotstudio.com/
Hey, I think I can help out here; for starters, unless you know how to properly use a .png hack, then I strongly suggest against using them in websites. I.E doesn't display .png's right, it's stupid I know, so try using a .gif instead. That's my main problem with viewing the website in I.E, other then that, I can't see any other problems. The scrolling banner works fine for me. As for the third problem, as I stated, everything loads fine for me in FireFox. I.E has the problem with the banner, as it's a .png, otherwise it's fine. Questions; Erm.. I'm not good with that kinda stuff, though I do think it would look okay on the sides. As for the news box, I'd have stuck it where your content went, if you mean an actual set of content. If you mean just a box, like 300x200 or something, then I suppose under the login menu. I'm not sure what you mean with the last question. Thanks, Hope it helps! Vx.
The banner doesn't scroll in my browser and I am using Firefox. If I view it locally then it scrolls. I should move the content lower on the page and add a news box? My third question means that I want to place my copyright thingy in a box that resembles the other ones. Blue border and gray background.
You can use PNG, but not PNG-24 (which has alpha-transparency, the thing that IE 5 and 6 choke on) if you're going to use the format without using a PNG filter for IE 5/6. IE 7 supports PNG-24 so it's not necessary.
