I have a us site and I want it to rank high on google.co.uk any ideas on how I can do this?

    I have tried:

submitting the site to UK directories
    Press releases to UK sites

What else can I do? I am article marketing on all the main article sites...currently the site is 7th on page 1 of Google, I am competing against sites that have aged domains compared to mine, my links are more relevant and have more links than higher ranking competitors.

I believe one of the option is to buy and promote co.uk domain with co.uk whois and hoster. But this would take too much time.
another option is to get backlinks from co.uk sites to your com site. Also you can try to link to authoritative sites in uk.

Create more and more backlinks from .co.uk, I am in the same situation with a website and ranking on no 1 for some really hard keywords. But this is due to some very good quality links from best places acquired...

Ambitious, be careful of google's assessors, who regularly check first positions. Make your addresses on sites different.
Also different design... Google do not like affiliated sites taking top positions for a keyword.

Hum, tend to disagree providing the content is different and unique each site providing it is hosted in the correct country should rank high, when you do good SEO. I know I have had this for 2 other niches I target got positions 1,2,3 and 4 on first page of Google - with a search volume of 3,000,000 per month.

When you say "affiliate sites", unlike others who just copy the content then change the odd work, all sites are different completely - so no association, even telephone numbers and contact addresses are different.

Ok, so they are not affiliate sites. Should be fine, then.

Add your site to Google webmaster tools. In "settings", set your target audiences to "United Kingdom". It helps Google to decide which country your site targeted in. (You can also see "United Kingdom" right beside your site's URL in the search result). Also, if you can move your site to a server located in United Kingdom can help your UK ranking too.

Optimize your website content for the keyword you are looking for. Don't clutter each page with all the possible target keywords. 'One Page One Keyword' should be your aim.
Try 'SenSEO' Firefox extension to see the SEO Criteria for each page. Its a very good tool to optimize your page using keywords.

One of the best ways is to get a .co.uk domain, get backlinks for it and redirect that to your current site.

Hey hey hey! Here's a few thing's to check. You shouldn't have any major problems getting a .com ranking in Google UK

1 - makesure the site is hosted on UK servers
2 - makesure you've set to a UK audience in Google Webmaster tools
    3 - get loads of links from .co.uk & .org.uk sites
4 - get loads of links from website hosted on UK servers

    Hope that helps :)
