try reformatting your system. if you do not want to do so , then download an updated virus and spyware detector, scan all your drives 2-3 times, then delete the start up service. to do this press windows + R and type msconfig . then goto start up and uncheck all the services . doing the above it should work too good. 1 GB is 200% enough for XP 32 bit. 4 GB is out of range. i mean it needs no description
Remove the softwares which are not in use. Use a light Anti-virus. Something like Kaspersky makes it too much slow. - Mr.President -
Don't go around disabling ALL services. You'll probably find half your computer useless if you do that. Find out which services are not needed (might be something like Winamp, registry fixer, RAM booster...a lot of people actually use this stuff). Also go to the start up tab and remove all useless programs which start when the PC boots. You need to get a decent antivirus. Earlier I used to use AVG but now I prefer ESET NOD32, it does a very good job of protecting your PC real time and detects almost everything in scans as well. If nothing works and it's still slow as hell, I'd recommend formatting your stuff after you saved the most important data. Nothing makes a computer run as fast as a format.
I use avast antivirus. Sometimes my computer struck. I dont use much softwares, just avast, photoshop and messenger mainly. So can i get any help how to fast up computer?
Don't forget to do simple maintainance as well like emptying the recycle bin, deleting temp files and defragmenting the hard drive.
I did all those things , even deleting all temp files, and also emptying recycle bin, but the speed is still slow. Will the Avast Makes Slow?
The best is to format every once in a while and clear all the conjested crappy settings up and start fresh... Spring Clean!
You need only 512MB of RAM to run Windows XP smoothly without any problem. So I guess your computer is infected some virus or there is a hardware issue.
You might try downloading and using System Mechanic free trial. http://systemmechanic.com/system-mechanic/pro/download.aspx Try reinstalling Windows if all else fails.
Just to add some info: Avast is actually a very lightweight anti-virus, i have been using it for around 4 years now. And my current main work-PC is a 2.5 year old Lenovo Celeron laptop with 2GB of RAM. Works perfect with Photoshop & all heavy-lifting. I think its very unlikely that Avast might be the cause of your Windows loading slow. As Silver89 suggests reinstalling might be your last resort.
@ checkblog, i scanned with antivirus , i found no antivirus. Also main problem is photoshop, it is loading slow. I dont feel like my computer is loading with 4 gb ram I tried checking ram, i found only 3.23 gb ram showing in my computer > properties. So, i think is it motherboard problem?
Some of your ram could be used by your video card. BTW - Get SuperAnti-Spyware, CCleaner and avast. Run them in that order. You should be set
Hi, if you know how to format then back up all of your important data to a disc and flash drive and then format as this will make the computer run much faster. Alternatively run a program, like malwarebytes to check for malware. Your system might be bogged down with spyware and malware as well as the registry needing good clean up from all past program installs and and fragmentation of harddrive over time. Also you can type msconfig into the run command and click the startup tab and disabling uncessary programs that start up and can slow things down, like skype, yahoo that automatic start up on windows reboot, making sure to leave antivirus intact.
Your machine has plenty of juice therefore its is not your anti-virus program, photoshop or a motherboard problem. It is most probably a software issue. All good advice on here, however, the proper sequence of events required to fix the problem are missing from the previous posts. I would advise you spend some time running anti-virus programs as outlined above. If problem persists, try unistalling programs which you do not require and then run start>run>msconfg to stop programs chewing up system resources at startup. Finally defrag your hard disk. If problem still persists, then you can start taking the proper steps to virus removal. Removing viruses can be difficult for the novice therefore I would advise you do not take this approach and instead reformat the disk. This is simple to carry out, instructions are on the web and the process will have your machine as good as new. Do you have the disks the machine came with i.e Windows disk AND drivers disk? What make is the machine?
step 1 - download ubuntu ' or redhat ' step 2- burn an iso image step 3- install ubuntu and erase windows problem solved
