    Hi

Let say I have 2 domains:

    xyz (dot) com
(a HR training consulting firm for Singapore market mainly)

    smartHRpractice (dot) org

    1)
Is it advisable for me to create a blog based on XYZ (that is XYZ (dot) com / blog
or to use smartHRpractice (dot) org

    2)
I would like to create a blog or information product sales site targeting at
    worldwide customers?

Which one out of the 2 domains above shall i use?

    3)
When I market myself e.g. create user name in Facebook or Twitter.. should I use "XYZ", or "smartHRpractice"?

    4)
What are the best practices in managing two domains at the same time?
e.g. how to drive traffic from one to another? Which one shall be my landing
    page?

    5)
Is "smartHRpractice" better, because it is self-explanatory? Or should i brand my company name XYZ?

    Thanks!

Well, as for myself, I Always use my keyword I want to target in my domain name. So, if your target keyword is 'hrpractice' then you should use that as your main, but if it's 'hrtraining' you want to target, then use that domain as your main. If you use both, just pick one as your main and link your other domain to your main domain. You can do it by adding a link to your webpage or adding the links inside the articles you write or do both...I would do both, that's just my opinion. =)

If I misunderstood what you were trying to ask and didn't give the correct information, I apologize in advance. :)

Using a keyword in your domain will help you with SEO.
There are several ways you can drive traffic from one site to the other, it'll depend on what exactly you want to achieve.

I agree with NetAffiliate76. It is best to use a top keyword as part of your domain name. The word or phrase not only helps with search engine rankings, but also creates a meaningful and memorable domain name for visitors to relate to and remember.

Use Googles Keyword tool and figure out which site keyterms will get you more traffic.

You could do both, but if you are trying to brand it is going to take longer because you don't have the advantage of having the nice SEO friendly keyword in your domain.

    Hi DST,
I'm not sure i understand exactly. But here is my response:
You certainly haven't done any keyword research and its obvious from the domain name you have shown. My guess is that there would be very few people looking for that domain name (keyword) i may be wrong but... Here is what you should do when choosing a domain name for your business (scrap those you have chosen):
Search for your hypothetical product with the Google keyword tool and see what comes up.
Then choose a keyword that has plenty of traffic but little competition (you may need help to do this if you are new).
Register the exact keyword as a dot com (if not a .net or .org will do the same job)
If it's still taken don't despair just choose the keyword and add a character at the end... like 123, now, fast or something that makes sense.
It's the phrase with the KW in the beginning that is what's important not the end.
Even if you can't find an available name with that technique try putting a hyphen between each word that too is very good alternative.
Then make sure the KW is in the source code as the <title>
Now promote your KW with back links as fast as you can. That's it in a nutshell DST. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me so if you don't think this info helps just discard it. It's my 100 thousand dollars' worth!

    Hi folks

Thank you so much for your advice as well
as go through the keyword research steps. I
now kind of having a more concrete mind.

I think something still dangling in my mind
is the core decision like this: Should i
create traffic based on Method#1 - a unique
domain name (see BrownMilk example below)
or based on Method#2 - a keyword with
    sizeable search volume (see below)

    Method #1:
    - Say, i already registered BrownMilk e.g.
BrownMilk (dot) com, it's an unique name,
    nobody have it.
    - it will sure come up 1st on Google search
    - If i tell people BrownMilk, it wil defintely be No 1 on search.

    Method #2:
    SmartHRpractices (dot) org
    - I understand that the keywords contained
here got quite a lot of search volumes.
    - For "HR practices" [Global monthly
searches on Google Keyword Tool at 27,100]
However, for "Smart HR practices" [Global
    monthly searches are zero 0]

    Questions will be:
    1)
Is this still favourable and to my
advantage to use Method #2 although only part of my domain
name "HR practices", not "Smart HR
    practices" have sizeable search volumes?

    2)
If I need to register myself for facebook
    username, twitter username, youtube channel
name, linkedin etc... is it better to use
    the name "BrownMilk" or "SmartHRpractices"
in terms of branding /traffic generation?

    3)
If I want to have a platform for blogging,
selling information products e.g. e-book on
HR payroll and possible a member forums
ultimately, Method #1 or Method #2 will be
    better in the long run?

    Thanks a ton.

SmartHRpractice.org is better for your niche, but I still don't like the name. .com domains are always better when trying to build a brand.

You'll definitely have an advantage if you use your target keyword for your URL. So if that's that, then brand and market that.

I think it's better you can manage the site to be market or brand.
But you must focus to the main of the bussiness
