www.retailalley.blogspot.com So i am a 21 year old living in Australia who currently works for the retail monster Woolworths (Biggest supermarket in Australia). I have worked there for a few years now and can now honestly say that my view on the company has changed significantly. I no longer have any respect for this company, how it treats its staff and customers. There is no staff focus at all! I believe the only thing this company is interested in doing is to making bigger and bigger profits to please its shareholders and to continue to rip off its consumers. I guess the only benefit from working for such a company is that i get a 5% staff discount! Although take into consideration that all their products are over priced!! Shop at Aldi instead! I have a blog which is starting to turn into an anti Woolworths and Coles blog. Alot of blogs i have posted discuss unfair monopolization of markets and corporate greed. Check it out at www.retailalley.blogspot.com
Be careful. They will likely eventually hear about your blog and your job could then be put in jeopardy. Not a problem if you have another job lined up, but if it catches you off guard, it could hurt you economically until you find something else.
I agree with ^^. It's a site that could cause a conflict of interest and if your dependent on them for a sustainable income to live on. I would probably close the blog or find a different topic i.e. attacking other retailers. I have a woolworths down the road, IMO they've gone down hill quite a bit.
Where i live, the woolworths closed down and sold out. It's now some sports shop (I think). Probably cut backs to increase profits.
Maybe I have my history mixed up, but didn't Sam Walton (Wal-Mart) buy out Woolworths wayyyyyy back in the day?
Is that the one in the country town that everyone boycotted as they wanted to support the locals. The one that was in the news a few weeks ago?
Woolworths is pretty much finished in the UK now. They still have a reasonable amount of high street stores I guess, but they're just rubbish. I don't know why anybody would shop there for anything other than sale items.
ahh i thought woolworths might be owned by walmart. Bigw (as the aussies here know of)..has anyone noticed that bigw's slogans mimick walmarts? This has never been publicised to my knowledge. evil... go aldi! woolies and coles need to serve the customer not the shareholders. gee-sus..its basic bloody customer service 101. *sigh*
UK People. Woolworths in Australia is the equivalent of Tesco etc Its a supermarket Aussie People Woolworths in UK is the equivalent of a Big-W here in Oz.
Woolworths sell grocery food. Considering that they are 1 of the big 2 grocery supermarkets, unless you don't eat food it's gonna be very hard to not buy anything from them!
bah come on man the pic n mix and 25p mini cans i stoped going to woolworths to buy goods a few years ago when i was 19 and they asked to see my ID when buying a 12 rated movie.... (never did get that movie) got banned from the store for calling the woman underclassed meh i mean for the love of god i didnt look 11 at the age of 19.
Hmm, is the pick'n'mix done by container size now? When it was done by weight I'm sure things were so expensive because they sent the scales away to get calibrated on the moon so everything was 4x heavier down here. 25p minicans are no good either, scarcely enough to feel like you're swallowing.
