Honestly, I think Microsoft needs to discontinue their browser. Even with pop-up blocker I'm continuously getting a MILLION popups. I have a faster computer and fast internet but whenever this happens my computer seems to slow down and sometimes freeze up. The only purpose I have for Internet Explorer is to make sure my website looks the same as it does in Firefox. This brings up another problem!!!!! Internet Explorer created it's own standards for viewing websites. This is mainly because they are worried that some legitimate company like Firefox will take over their market. I'm sure a lot of web designers have to go through hell to make the website their making looks the same on both IE and Firefox. I hate it whenever my website looks perfect in Firefox and looks screwed up on IE. Some web designers are actually stupid enough to go along with just the IE standards. Hopefully over time everyone will switch over to Firefox and leave IE as a thing of the past.
The most important issue is that Microsoft do not implement the latest standards. They tried to implement a few CSS 2 and 3 specs in IE 7 but miserably failed to even implement the CSS 2 selectors let alone these of CSS 3. They even 'invented' some weird bugs. ^^
I was always a loyal IE fan my whole life, totally against firefox because it was a little different and I didn't like change. I finally got so fed up w/ IE that I made the switch to mozilla and I have been so much happier once I got used to it. IE Sucks!
Take a step back and think about it. You are designing your website for your clients/visitors. You design to whatever they browse with. You do not design your site for the browser you use/like. If you are, you're doing it all wrong. Unless your sites are geared to webmasters or to the techy crowd, a majority of your visitors will be using IE.
As a web designer, I must say that Microsoft should stick their pride into their .... err .. You have no idea what I'm going through whenever I make changes and I *always* have to make adjustments for the IE viewing. I'm so fed up that I will make a petition and I'll probably get 9999999999 of YES, IE SHOULD USE THE DA*N STANDARDS. Err, got carried away. but that's what IE does to a man, and unfortunately, not just IE.
Well I hate IE because of this same reason, you got tons of Pop-ups you don't get with firefox, which causes your computer to freeze like a pop.
I guess its what you are use to. Some people prefer IE, some like FF. However, with me, after having tried both, I prefer FF. Having said all that, as long as you can browze and do what you want, does it really matter which you use?
I have a hunch Most of the people using firefox means there at HOME I've only come across 1 work machine in school in my life with firefox and that was becuase the machine wasn't locked down and someone installed it. Every single workplace , school, libriary uses I.E. and yes I hate I.E too!
TBH I was using IE6 for the longest of times. It was OK, other than the popups. You will never see me use Internet Explorer AGAIN. I switched to FireFox, and LOVE IT! I even tried others such as Opera, but never liked it much so decided to stick with FireFox.
There probably a 100 things that bug me with I.E 7 A few of the top of my head, lets see if you any of you guys can relate to this. 1. When you launch I.E 7 it lags to load about:blank as a homepage, as if were looking up a real website 2. The Text is wierd there some kind of filter or something that makes the text very crisp looking...I dont like this. 3.The System Nav is missing! Where is File: Edit :View ;HIstory: Tools :Help : buttons?? There hidden somewhere under some confusing tabs. 4. it has poor right click controls. Compared to firefox. 5.Ctrl-f (search) is shitty compared to firefox 6. It launches View Source in Notepad, while firefox has a nicer DOM inspector 7. blarg
Seems they just started making IE7 mandatory in Windows Update. Also interesting: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/20...-activation-changes-to-ie-activex-update.aspx
After my experiences with Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer I was "so-so" but after upgrading to Firefox I was "okay".. After converting to Linux it was great. I think Microsoft is to over hyped and needs to be shown up.
