I didn't realize Ebay charges $125 per car to sell on their site. I sold a car as-is that has problems and it sold for $208 and Ebay will not bend on their $125 fee, so I only made $83 YIPPEEEEEE

fuck ebay and paypal and their greedy money grabbing bastard owners.

I am angry because I called Ebay support and they said they won't help me.

And another thing, they make so much freakin money, why in the hell do they need google ads on their damn website?

Why is it that people blame their ignorance on others and insist that "Company X" is in the wrong. IMO, this thread is pointless.

Agreed, why would you use eBay when a local ad in your newspaper would have been $20 and sold the car locally just as easily??

i used ebay because I havent been able to get a job for 8 months, and I don't have any money. When I was listing the car it never said anything about charging $125 when it sold so I assumed it would be like normal auctions and be a percentage.

I wasn't 'ignorant' about it, it doesn't say anything about the fees when your listing.

Before a listing goes live on eBay, you are presented with fees that are associated with the listing and a final total of listing fees that you occurred. It is never a good thing to assume when you aren't sure how things work as you have found out and there are other ways to check on what the cost/fee rate is for specific types of auctions.

Every eBay Auction has both Listing Fees and Successful Listing Fees. In about 30 seconds, I was able to find this information via eBay Help:

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/motorfees.html
There it clearly states that Successful Listing Fee is $125.00

I understand not having the money to put ads in the local newspaper but there are so many free resources - Kijiji being one of them. I have sold three cars through Kijiji and it didn't cost me a dime.

eBay wasn't being dishonest, they didn't try to hide their fee structure... so why should they reduce the fees for you? If they did it for you, then why not every one else too?

when I listed the car the only thing it said about cost was the $1 to list it, but didn't say anything while listing that I would be charged $125 after it ended. I got an email from Ebay saying I should have listed it under Parts and Acessories. I wont be paying the fee though, me and the buyer are "mutually" agreeing to not "go through" with the sale, so Ebay reverses the final vaule fee.

Please ignore my rant, I just got a message from Ebay telling me that the full $125 fee has been removed so I don't owe anything now :)

I have same feeling with you. I sell many thousand of items on ebay for 8 years. I also want to boycotte ebay but I don't see the other marketplace to replace ebay. I've tried ioffer, ecrater, atomicmall, etc but they don't have enough traffic. :(
