The reason is. bing is misleading people who don't know how to use internet...

I am working as Verizon Technical Support and sometimes, I need to access customer's computer remotely in order to help them better.. The problem is, when customer types the address inside the address bar, bing is giving weird search results... Bing is not helping but just adding problem to both of us.. :(

For example, you type www.mydomain.com inside the address bar, instead of opening the site directly, bing gives search results..

    Very common problem on vista

hahaha..bing can't compete with google obviously. They're trying to give results as much as they can to lure you when in fact it's not anymore related. lol

I've heard that to rank good on Bing you need to also participate in their advertising program. (I mean the adsense equivalent but for Microsoft.) Is this true?

That would really suck... and make the search engine the bad choice!

What do you mean? It's like you input the url and bing suggest a different website?

They should be typing the url in the address bar, not in the bing search area right? Even google gives you results when you type domain.com in the google search input area, it doesnt take you directly to the site in question. That is the job of the address bar or the url bar.

Even if they are typing the address inside the address bar, it gives the same result.. mostly in vista with IE8...

What does that have to do with Bing?  Is Bing barring you from accessing remote computers?

Emm, you definitely have had a bad night, this doesn't make much sense either... you mean, if you type a wrong address in the address bar? Well, type the right address then.

Anyways, from my webmaster perspective Bing is very good - it drives those Spanish/English speaking Americans to my sites, so, cheers to Bing and I hope it continues to flourish!!!

I like bing too. And my sites have almost the same positions as in Google. White SEO still rules :)

Only Bing is weak in search results (which is the biggest weakness), otherwise their function are great..

If you ever installed Google Toolbar. that do the same thing as you discusses about bing, that it redirects to domain search rather then showing "cant find page"..Will you hate Google if it do this?

Where come to search redirection Google Toolbar just shows Domain Suggestions, if a wrong domain is used in address bar. At the other hand Bing not only shows Domain suggestion, but also shows search results..So In that case Bing is better than Google Toolbar search redirection..

I like the page design of bing. It has beautiful background pictures changing every day.
But I'm still wondering how to submitt a website to bing.
    Anybody knows? Thanks.

but if i can remember correctly, bing/msn/microsoft have always set internet explorers default search engine to their own
but with never versions you can change it immediately once you install internet explorer
and bing is a good search engine, but obviously not as good as google

I'm not a huge fan either. It seems they still have work to do on their search algorithm. It also seems to take forever to get your site indexed compared to yahoo and google.
