I had a letter from google . . . questions arising:

I had a letter from google:

They said it had come to their attention that there had been invalid clicks and in future they would deduct any days revenue where they thought there had been invalid clicks.

    1) does this mean I can keep revenue from days they believe there were invalid clicks?

    2) what if a foe has clicked? does it mean I lose a day's revenue for 1 click?

    3) has anyone ever found a malicious clicker? how?

    4) do malicious clickers get prosecuted?

    5) If I was to click on a google ad on this site - on a thread I had created - would that be an invalid click? I just realised, I have done so. The problem is thattheir adverts are so relevant - I'm always worried I'll forget myself and click!

    1) I believe so
    2) Seems to be so
    3) Find their IP with an adsense tracker than find their ISP and report their IP to the ISP
    4) they will AT THE LEAST get their internet shut down.
    5) you can't click on your own ads, silly! of course!

OMG! (to number 5) point taken - so so silly!

Thanks for the other stuff though - I'll forward it to the bloke who's developing the site - I assumed he knew not to click too so I'll ensure he does.

Do you think they've been lenient with me? Is it possible they like the look of my site? Am I being silly again?

You got lucky that you got a letter. People generally get their account terminated without a warning.

    1. You can, only the revenue from invalid clicks will be deducted.
    2. No, not at all
    3. Sometime people reported here that they got click bombed. You can use adlogger to track it.
    4. I guess not, but, spammers get busted sometimes. (just gone through an article about the SpamKing :p)
    5. If you click on your ads by accident, inform adsense support immediately to avoid banning.

I've never heard of someone losing his or her internet connection because he or she clicked to much on an ad.

    from:
    http://adsense.blogspot.com/2007/05/accidents-happen.html

"However, we do understand that an accidental click may occur from time to time, so there's no need to contact us each instance this occurs."

    and from:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=revenue_sharing

"The system will never display your own AdSense Client ID to you (as long as you are logged in).

This is to prevent people from unknowingly violating the Adsense terms and conditions (specifically the part about clicking your own ads)."

Well, it appears Google has become more understanding in this respect. They are now more willing to give publishers a chance by simply deducting the value of click. I believ this is the right way since it avoid accounts being terminated when people start clicking in the hope iof getting someone's account terminated.

I had a google ad account when I was running my old site hityourhead.com and yea I was making them enough money but I don't think thats the reason. When they ban people it's because of "excessive" invalid clicks. They won't ban you for things they are almost sure are just little faults. It's a different thing getting a few invalid clicks a day than getting a thousand or more. I got the letter as well and they kindly asked me to try and resolve the situation and they even offered tips and help and stuff.. but they never canceled my account. You can call me lucky, but I think not. I just think they are reasonable.

Cheers everyone.. thats just my 2cents.. and those are 2 free pennies, use them wisely! lol...

    Binjamin :)

    Who can question Google:D
No one knows the data that google has before terminating any publisher and without knowing it. Hard to comment on anything.
In any case he is the lucky gGGggUuuUYYYyyy

    5. You can freely click on ads here on DP. You will never click on your own ad since the system is designed NOT to display your ads to yourself. So, don't be scared :)

PS You really got lucky :)

    1) I Dont think so that you will get paid that you made before the invalid clicks. The same has happened for me.
