I guess it's time for me..

.. to introduce myself.

First of all, I can't believe I'm actually participating. In the past, I've always been a lurker.

Secondly, I'd like to thank Shawn. His tools are phenominal and this community that he hosts is great.

My name is Niles Rowland. Prior to Frasier becomming popular, people always used to mistakenly call me 'Miles'. I got tired of correcting them by saying, "it's Niles, not Miles" so I came up a new line: "It's 'Niles'. If I lived in Canada, I would have to be 'Neters' (pronounced Neeters) because they are on the metric system." I soon realized that if I juxtaposed the syllables of my last name, it would sound French and my alter-ego could then be Quebecois.

So much for my nickname.

Basically being unemploy{ed|able}, I decided to create a couple of websites for a friend of mine who owns a few businesses. It turned out to be a pretty cool gig. I have an office I can go to every morning (good to get away from the house), he pays me a nominal salary (always good to have a house to go back to), I can honestly say that I have a J-O-B (great when you're out meeting new people), and I get to do whatever the flock I want to!

The downside to this is after I built the server and websites, I had a lot of free time on my hands. After spending a couple of months cross-eyed from boredom, I decided to develop a new skillset to add to my tool chest: SEO. Not to brag (cuz I know I gots far, far, far to go) but in the 2 months since I began to focus on this, the traffic to my site has quadrupled and my nominal salary gets supplemented by monthly checks from Google.

ResaleBroker, rez, GTech, yfs1 (I already said Hi to mopacfan) I appreciate the welcome.

I've been doing a lot of reading of the various posts to the DP forums and the thing that strikes me most is the lack of backbiting here. That makes me personally want to get involved and stay involved. I don't have the time to waste on flame wars and one-upmanshi{p|t}.
