I just installed windows 7 in my PC, it looks great.(Windows 7 will be officially released on OCT 22nd)

Faster than XP and more stable than VISTA

    DVD size 2.32
Once installed it took nearly 10GB in hard disk, but it is faster than you imagine.

I don't have time to write, i ll just post a screen shot (coz i am exploring windows 7)

I have no complaints with Vista so I'll probably stick with it for another year or so. Plus, I'm not looking forward to installing all my programs over again. I've just gotten my computer to be the way I like it.

Use upgrade options and all your programs/settings will remain as they are.

I had Windows Ultimate as well, which I installed to replace my Vista Home Premium. Sadly, I think I still prefer my Vista, because my comp have problems going to desktop just 2-3 weeks after using Windows 7 which never ever happened on my Vista.

What I suspect was the problem: Try doing a full backup on your windows 7, then cancel halfway. :x That's what I did the same thing twice, which caused my PC to crash. (Right now I'm using another comp, still waiting for my other PC to be fixed soon, reinstallation doesnt work as well)

It appears faster than xp for me. XP takes time to load when u go into a folder which has large number images or sub folders. In windows 7 that time was reduced to certain extent, in second access it was great (Indexing i guess)

Taskbar is clean, i like that.

Media player is useless as usual.

In windows 7, it is easier to browse in IE than Firefox, coz it is easier to naviage any IE tab right from taskbar where as firefox is normal, u have to go inside firefox and select the tab u want.

I got that as 30 day trial, i think it is worth trial and if you like that you can continue. (i hope u ll continue)

I've been using the RTM of Windows 7 since it was leaked a while ago, it is amazing. It is way faster than XP, faster than Vista and more stable. My machine has been running for about 1 month now since last reboot with no crashes.

File transfers are faster. Networking is painless. The graphics don't hog your ram and CPU like Vista did.

I've been using it since RC1 and its been a great OS so far.

Hopefully the RTM has some more speed improvements

Call me skeptical, but I'm an old hat at XP, and I've heard windows 7 is just a faster version of Vista. I dunno about anyone here, but I hated Vista for more than just it's lack of speed and incredible instability.

I couldn't stand the fact that they stupified the entire OS. I know what I'm doing with windows, I don't need you to protect me, or hide settings. When I tried to work on my Girlfriends laptop that was running Vista, I struggled to find the simplest of control panel or general computer settings, because it was all hidden behind a thick layer of "user friendliness".

Just my 2 cents. I'll likely eventually convert to windows 7. Maybe after SP1 or 2 comes out.

If I'm not wrong, you can drag your firefox shortcuts to the task bar.

Btw, the taskbar is customizable, if you prefer the old you used to have in XP and Vista, right click on the task bar, properties then unstack it at all times (unless too many) or something. :p

We run almost all XP workstations. We upgraded one machine with new drives that XP's native installer wouldnt recognize so we got a hold of the RC Windows 7 64 bit ultimate. Holy hell is this thing fast. In full 64 bit mode, we can run as many as 100 open windows without much slow down. Try that on xp and see what happens.

Because I am a student I have the full version of Windows 7. I must say that this is the most "perfect" Windows version yet.
It's fast, reliable and safe. I have it installed on my PC for over 2 months now and everything is running great.
I deffineatly recommend using Windows 7 instead of Windows Vista/Xp .
    Xp is fast but old
Vista is slow but new :)
Windows 7 is fast and new

windows 7 has better networking features, quite stable and good support for multi touch and multi core processors. I have been using since its beta days. and the original version has a very few noticeable improvements in looks / functions as i can see. worth an upgrade is all i can say.

The irony is.. Ubuntu comes with its 9.10 at the same date and also OSX comes with its snow leopard as well. This october we get lot of new things. Its time to dust your hardware as well ;)

I am not telling about adding short cut of mozilla firefox.

Once you open multiple tabs in IE and mozilla, click on IE and Mozilla, see the difference.
