I got the traffic, How to retain it?

    I got lots of traffic at my forums but how can I retain them as regular visitors or even better, regular posters?

    Recieving around 35000-40000 hits per day. Around 1000 UV, give or take a few hundred.

    Hello Oninova.
    WOW, as a tourisum forum owner having two now running for years we see a lot of people come then go. Might be in our case that they are interested because they will soon visit a California Beach or Palm Springs then they fade away. I know like with this forum our signups are about 5% of the total daily visitors we would like to know how to get nore signups from those visitors but nothing yeat figured out.

    We do not think that contests work we were doing and annual contest named guess the first 110 degree and 115 degree day of summer. Lots of current members entered the contest, but no real new ones.

    Sorry Solid_Nuts I meant 35,000 - 45,000 not 34-45. ^.^

    Any more suggetsions?Contests don't really work, it helps boost activity of current members but thats probally it.

    If I were you I'd put one of those vBulletin mods out there where you earn points for every post...then a certain number of points gets you like a video game or something. It'd separate you from the other non-rewarding forums.

    http://gamerz-forum.com/forum/ should be your root site address IMO, the front page of your forum site looks kind of sloppy with the "recent threads" page displayed. Most people would prefer to go straight to the forums.

    wow thats a lot of traffic ..... you got a lot of members as well .... Maybe take some sections out .... you will find that people like a forum to have less sections .... however once you are getting lots and lots of posts per day, you can add more again

    also, you could use sub forums ...

    Just keep bringing new and fresh content or offer them a 'regular' service - so they keep coming back for it :)
