ok i got an infraction which was fair enough, something about posting for post count increase or something, anyway ive taken it a little personally since it was a good thread about a site

    i replyed

    Thats Fantastic :)

ok i admit i could of added a bit more but when i view the site the words "thats fantastic" came out of my mouth,

so arlyer on in the thread someone posts

    "That was a good laugh"
    and no infraction?

im taking it a little personally ;)

o well just thought id "up my post count" and see if any mods would discuss this, member to member

So you posted a dumb comment and added nothing to the thread and got an infraction... what are you whining about?

Sounds like those kids "but if Timmy does it why can't I?"

ah but timmy did do it thats the point.

mabey this thread does sound a little winey but heck its my first day on the forums and have tried today to be a "good member", if there was a way to talk to a mod about this in pm i would have done instead of making a thread but there isnt so heres the thread, and feel free not to read this thread anymore if im bothering you

Start a thread, and you start getting people making pithy commments.
    Like "thanks for that"
"Will pm you" (just do it! don't have to tell the world)
Or my favorite: "pm me" (why? who knows, maybe the poster is lonely)

I find it is better and easier and more productive to give at least 2 good sentences about whatever.

Let me comment. When I see your posting history I see a litany of posts that contribute nothing to the thread. Normally when I see one such post, I then look at user's history. If it is only an occasional occurrence I will ignore, in your instance you ony now have 27 post and more than 1/3 of those are questionable. Hence the friendly reminder of the DP posting guidelines.

Good luck with your online endeavors and welcome to DP.

and how do you know "Timmy" didn't get an infraction - did you ask?

because you can't see other people's infractions!

Is it really necessary to start a new thread everytime you get an infraction? Admit your mistake and do not repeat the same mistake again.

I have been here for quiet sometime now but, have never received an infraction.

Getting a bad reputation is better than Infraction.

10 Infractions lead to BAN but any no. of minus reputations does not lead to BAN
And also infractions can be given by moderators only but Reputation by any member.

Reputation is used by all members and moderators to let you know what they personally think of your post. They'll leav epositive, or green reputation if they liked it and negative, or red when they didn't. The higher their own total score of reputation, they more they can transfer to you. It's like Google PR in a way.

Infractions on the other hand are only given by moderators and they tell you about rules, not opinions. Yellow is just a warning, red is a real 'punishment' but still only a warning really, because it hardly ever results in a straight ban.

1 reputation with 20 points is not possible, Maximum 10 points only anyone can give out with green or -5 can take with red...

You usually see the "Will pm you" and such comments on trading threads because you can't give/get iTrader point without participating in a thread. So those are usually acceptable.

It would be better if instead of PM me, they gave an opinion on the quality of the service/product.

That way it allows them to leave iTrader but still contribute something useful to the thread.

Anyway, I don't buy the iTrader excuse. I see people saying PM me in 10 or 15 threads in one day and I can nearly guarantee they have never spent a penny.

Yeah, I got an infraction for bumping a thread, if I used another word other than "bump", I'm sure there wouldn't have been an infraction given.

Oh well, it's how the forum works. I can live with it.
