The $299 only gets them to look at your site, it does not guarantee that your site will get it. I didn't know that you could submit your site for free, what page did you use to submit for free?
How do you get included for free in yahoo directory?? I could not find a link to do that, please share some info. Thanks, ---edited===> I found that now, thanks for posting.
Goto the category your site should be in and on the bottom of the page is a "Suggest a Site" link. From there you can select paid or free submissions.
You're correct, that's how I submitted mine. So far traffic from being listed in the MySpace category on the Yahoo Directory is about 10 uniques a day... not anywhere near where I thought but I am getting an increase in my Yahoo search rankings since being accepted.
Nice one Shauner - I personally paid the cash a little while ago for PokerDIY - I'll never know if I could have got in free
Thanks for the tip. I submitted also a requested to get listed. Now fingers crossed. I have also submitted a feed with the yahoo site explorer tool to get more pages indexed.
You can only submit for free non-commercial websites. If you are making money of your website (i.e. selling goods and services), then the free submission does not apply to you. I did pay the $299 fee for Yahoo to take a look at my site. I do hope that I will get accepted.
