I got an infraction for posting my new directory in the directory forums. I submitted in the correct forum , but I got an infraction because the mod said I was new and not contributing the forum. Hello mods that is contributing to the forum. Give me a break.

oh I see it now. Way down at the bottom. You guys spend all this time policing for that. Why do you guys not put that at the top, instead stuck way down on a thread. Makes no sense to me.

Posting solely for self-promotion is not contributing to the forum. Regardless of anything else, we do have link spam rules here -- unless you've actively contributed to the overall community, posting just to link to your site is inappropriate. That's just basic forum etiquette. Spend some time discussing issues in the main directory forum or other areas for a bit first, and then there won't be any problem with you posting an announcement in the solicitations and announcements section there.

actually posting a link to a new link directory is indeed contributing to the forum as it allows members to add their link.

Sorry just reading through the posts here. How does advertising your link directory contribute to the forum though?

Its all a scam for your money.. There are other directories out there. Plus I assume if anyone could do that. There would be tons of people on here with there directories and using it to promote there sites.

If you want to promote your site be a valued member. I run a directory I'm not going to post it till I reach the post count :)

No, he doesn't. Posting links to your site is primarily for your own benefit. It's self-promotion. Until you've contributed to community, do not self-promote by starting threads. That's all there is to it. Instead of the 1 pt infraction he could have gotten 5 pts for link spamming. Also could have gotten one for this thread. So he got off easy.
