    Hey,

Today I just found a very very bad thing in my gallery, the comments specifically. It looks like I had a bot spider, and post, extensive amount of links to inapropriate content. I would estimate maybe 1000 overall, in diffrent picture comments. This happened aproximatly 9 days ago.
What I am wondering is could google/yahoo/msn have indexed those pages in this timeframe and if so what impact would this have on my ranking or pr?

I am quite anoyed and would love to hear what people have to say.
Also I have taken down the galleries for good.

    Thanks,
    Henry H

I have a few solutions, from the basic to the advanced. My guestbook has been spammed a few times before and every time, I set up something new to block them. In my experience, spammers will "usually" stay away from submission forms that are tough to spam. So, you would set up the following:
    1. Start with a nofollow tag on the link (although this doesn't keep spammers away). This might keep unnessessary "comments" at bay.
    2. Image recognition. This is a very good option to ensure that nobody can make auto submissions to your site.
    3. Check IPs and don't allow duplicate submissions from the same IP address on the same day (or ever). However, there are some privacy issues here and I think you have to make it clear on the submission form that the user's IP Address will be recorded. This will of course, depend on which country you are in and their laws.

I don't think so .... Google will probably cache your pages again anyway and will see that you no longer link to those sites ... you should be fine imo
