Lately ive been geting massivly burned by my "shared hosting" services a few of my websites have been skyrocketing in traffic and apparrently have become to much a nusiance. This has ended up in my sites becoming suspended and me loosing money which is VERY frustrating... I need a good suggestion on a vps that people are happy with like good customer service/tech support , quick response to tickets , must include cpanel and hopefully whm...hopefully unlimited bandwidth and at least 99% uptime (is this too good to ask for) hopefully not... i've been looking at https://www.rackforce.com/index.php?do=dds200 "rack force" has anyone here on DP use them or have used them before?
I haven't used them, but they do have a very strong reputation for service and support, but they are a bit more costly than other hosting providers. you get what you pay for I guess. I thought about using them for a dedicated server, but I get more bang for my buck through other companies.
I just signed up a month ago with MyVPShost.com. Wow - downtime is like zero and they are very speedy. They run specials on webhostingtalk.com to get your first month for a $1. Its worth it to at least try. Setup was in under a day and most of my support tickets were answered in less than 24 hours. The only one that wasn't was over the X-Mas holiday and it was dependent on a vendor so not really their fault. Thus far its been a great experience. I also was tempted to try MediaLayer.com - they can customize plans to what you need and I have only read great things about them.
Actually I guess it all depends on which kind of VPS solution you need. Are you providing your own support for your clients? Do you know how to maintain a server yourself or do you need it to be managed? How much bandwidth do you need? Some providers I have experience with in the past/current and prove to do well are: Unmanaged: leeware.com, $15/mo for 20GB Diskspace/384MB RAM/Unmetered B/w. No control panel, need your own license. Managed: myvpshost.com, $40/mo, 20GB diskspace/384mb ram/200GB bandwidth There are VPS providers who offer end user support for your clients as well, might want to search around depending on your requirements. Good luck.
Well, IfastHosting.com is affordable and include a bit of free managed services. Look for their specials in WHT.
we had used rackforce before and although the price is good, the support is not. I always have to find the right person to get my problem solved. Managed service is the way to go, since patching a VPS system is different to a raw box. I broke a few when I started so I definitely will not attempt to do it yourself. Plus the time that it takes to do so. VPS also gives you a CP if you want it, so if you ever wanted to sell some of the space to your friends, they can access the system with limited control to let them do their own things. so it is a plus.
VPS is like cable modem, sometimes it's fast and sometimes it's soo slow... this goes to everything, from bandwidth to processor... I suggest going indepently by getting a cheap dedicated server.
if you have about 100$ to spare a month, checkout the managemybox.com (so far it's been great for me, the guy NICK is great and fast in responding to my question) -tboy
