I never thought of this. I bet a few scammers have done though. You're certainly doing the right thing by trying to get the money to it's rightful owner - not many would! :)

You should definitely refund the money. I am surprised Paypal does not the the option for you to refuse the money in case things like this happen.

Umm I might be careful about sending this money to the person selling these items..

Sounds like it could be a scam to me.

Ie. She made a mistake, you send the money to her, and all of a sudden all these buyers start filing claims that they didn't receive their goods. What account will PayPal refund their claims from? Not the person you forwarded the money to, YOURS.

    I'd call PayPal ASAP.

I once had to ask my wife where she got the 100K that she deposited to our bank account. She had not. Some customer of the large chain bank with which we do business had made a deposit in a diffrenet state and it went into our account.

    Easy come Easy go.

Wow, I never heard of this happening. I would chime in and say that the best route is going through PayPal to resolve the issue. Because as someone pointed out if there is a dispute it could have gone to your account AFTER you refunded the money. That would be a nightmare. This is a good notice to anyone who maybe would've considered not returning the money and working with PayPal directly to resolve the issue.
