Hey there, Yeah, I found an iPod today. I was at College and I saw an empty locker opened with only an iPod in it. First reaction: i didn't touch it. 3 hours later: i come back and it's still there, so I take it. Then, i go to the security office to tell them i found it, but they tell me i have to put it in the ''losts and founds'' and they can't do anything more. But i don't trust this : it seems so easy to just say that you lost your ipod and take one there... They didn't want to take my phone number in case someone demands it, so the person would call me and I would ask him questions to make sure it's its iPod. So, here I am, at home with a 120GB iPod Classic. The device's name is Anthony, but there is 60 anthonys at my college, i checked online... What would you do ?? THX
Well, if you really wanted to go the extra mile - you could leave messages w/ the 60 Anthonys (I would assume there is a school roster that has either their email address, or mail box numbers?). Just write up a flyer: If you lost an electronic device recently, and can describe it in DETAIL - please contact me within the next 14 days. (or some such) After that, I'd say you will have reasonably exhausted all means of contacting the original owner - and enjoy it.
Go to the lost and found again, give them the picture of the missing Ipod and some infos about it including your contact info. but do not leave it there. If someone inquires about it, they could just send him/her to you.
You should have just left it in the locker. The person who left the ipod could have come back for it.
It is very tough to keep it to yourself or give it to others. If you would have left it in the locker, someone else would take it away. Now, you kept it to yourself, try contacting Anthony in near future.
I found an iphone in a cab in Chicago. It was already jailbroken/unlocked by Pineapple (whatever that is, but the main loading screen was a pineapple with a bite taken out of it. Pretty funny pun). What did I do? Traded it for a few dinners at a Brazilian steak house, $50 a dinner for a little more than a week topped off with a trip to the local fondue house. Best discretionary spending of those few days that consisted of little more than pure delicious meat-protein intake. I love steak.
Try to find the owner - yeah go with the put up flyers idea or ask around or go back to the locker area If you really have a guilty conscience, hand it in at your college reception / admin area as lost property, they might be able to put ads around campus or in their own student news letter or publication. If you cant then find the owner, then finders keepers rules apply and you keep it or sell it on ebay for $
You should like put up a text/flyer/note on that locker. I HAVE YOUR IPOD and you;ll be contacted i am sre.
If you have a display board at college, post something about the ipod there but do not give much details so that no one can fake the information. It is a good thing that you are trying to help someone.
That means you are lucky.. Put the notice near Lost & Found with your contact number may be owner will see that.
