I found a PR5 domain for sale that is only 4 days old. How is that possible?!

I thought it took at least a year or two to get to PR5 if you knew exactly what you were doing, but this site is 4 days old (first created 02/04/2011). And, yes, I confirmed the site was legit by going to Google and entering "info:<domainname>". The asking price is around $200, but I'm very hesitant for obvious reasons.

So, does anyone know how it's possible to get a site's pagerank that high so fast?? And what are the risks if I consider buying it?

The domain name was expired and renewed. Try archive.org to see its history.

Ok, I checked archive.org and it does show a history going back to 2007. So you were right. But when I checked the domain on whois.domaintools.com, it doesn't show the site as having been dropped. Why would that be?

it doesn't really matter.. if it's recently registered then it was a drop. there's no other possibilities :)

Ok. Thanks, Adam. Very helpful. So, is there a rough gauge or a minimum for how old a site needs to be to achieve a certain PR ranking?

The name must be old since it has a PR5 the owner must have renewed it every year to maintain the PR.
