This Afternoon I Found A Keyword That Received Last Month Over 20,000 Hits, I Checked Google Ano Not Even 1 Person Had An Ad.

Wow I Thought That I Had Hit A Goldmine!!

Well I Have A Good Affiliated Willing To Pay Me Some Money, So I Decided To Go To Adwords And I Created A Very Targeted Ad Towards That Keyword.

    Guess What.

Google's System Told Me That I Had To Pay $3.00 Per Click.

    Wtf!!!

$3.00 Per Click, What Is The Problem With Them, There Are No Advertisers Targeting That Word!!!!

Can Somebody Explain What Is Wrong With Them.

I Think That They Just Want To Keep Making Billions Right???

As far as I know google do not set a minimum cost per click. Maybe you saw their recommended cost per click?

you may just not be seeing any ads because people arent bidding on the traffic from your country.

Are you sure there were no ads running?

Firstly, the chances of finding a phrase with that many searches and no ads running is pretty slim (I'm not saying it's impossible), and secondly, Google (in my experience) usually allow for minimum bid when there are no other advertisers...

Have you run the ad then checked to see how much the clicks *actually* cost?

Well actually Adwords will not activate your ad if you dont bid what they ask for.

I actually tried using the keyword and only bidding .05 but the ad would not show on the search screen.

And the keyword I is search by americans, but there are not even 1 people bidding on that keyword.

The keyword got 20,000 searches this month.

It doesn't mean there isn't an advertiser bidding on the keyword, it means no one is willing to pay the $3.00 minimum, or that they have done regional targeting and your ip isn't showing the ads.

They will, but ad distribution will very limited.

Let your word run for a few days - odds are it will get some play in the search network and then you can see what the actual CPC will be.

I can tell you right now that if a keyword is searched that often and nobody is bidding on it, it's impossible to make money from that keyword.

You should look for keywords whereby there are atleast 4 advertisers. Otherwise, chances are... others have tried the keyword, lost money, then gave up.

Greatdeals20031, the same thing has happened recently to me, with Adwords wanting several dollars per click minimum bid. And when I did a search for the term, no ads were displayed.

    Two things to remember:

One, the minimum bid only refers to Search. Your ad can run under Content even if you bid far below the stated minimum.

Two, the minimum bid changes during the day and night. Maybe $3 now, maybe 20 cents late tonight.

Try bidding 20 cents and you will see, after a few hours, that the ad has been displayed.

If you're really curious what the cost will be, meet the minimum but limit your daily total to some pittance like $5.00. See what a click actually costs, then decide whether to stop or extend the campaign.

I agree... but 0 advertisers for a keyword with that much action means bad conversions 99.99% of the time.
