I finished creating my expert system

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by michael_nguyen, Apr 11, 2009.

A few month ago I created a thread here about the "need" for an expert system which can be found here:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1150287

I wrote this script for my final year project which is ready for hand in on 1st of May. The domain knowledge is the MMO niche. I'm not an expert, I don't claim to be one but MMO is an interesting topic to me.

    Here is the script
    http://www.phpexpertsystem.com/demo/

This is the script I will be submitting as I don't have anytime left to improve it. Please could you test it out for me and give me feedback as this will go towards my evaluation in my dissertation. Any feedback is welcome whether good or bad.

    Thank you digitalpointers

It would be a good script for collecting leads or leading user to an affiliate link.
Would you have any suggestions for the script. I know it can be improved but what do you think can be done?

    Thank you

    *laughing at dlm's remark*

    Sorry, but that was funny.

It is certainly not spam. You have to spread this link all over the place in order for it to be pegged as such.

No offense, but all you did was put a spin on getting readers. As a visitor, I wouldn't go as I would think I was tricked into it.

But there are a lot of morons out there, like the ones on this board, so you might have some success.

But practically all do not like to fill out such forms, so....

This page is stuck. It does not go beyond this page.

    http://www.phpexpertsystem.com/demo/index.php

Or did you intentionally do this because that is where your links are?

On the surface it seems like a neat, novel idea to lure in more readers, but if practically all do not like filling out forms to begin with....

No need to start with the name calling. It's just a (very poor) method of trying to drive people to your site, using an idea that's been done before, but implementing it worse than I've ever seen or ever thought possible.

Thank you for feedback. Well the script has an aim to dig deeper than just to give any solution. I don't expect to please everyone, but if it's helped one person then then I've done my job. Actually It can go beyond that page because I can echo out button when clicked will open another URL which could be an affiliate link.

Well, although very, very few will go past page one, but if you think it will work.

But I have to agree with dlm's last post.

You may want to read it again, and think about it.

    Good luck with it, regardless.

Edited to add: I know you are kinda excited about what you have done, but I would leave out the words, "expert system." It's just simple programming, with a simple form.

    How can it be improved?

Perhaps by putting the links on the first page, and then on very page, instead of hitting them at the end?

For anyone with a half a brain, it is obvious what you are doing.

Besides, putting it on every page, begining on the first page will at least get ALL your visitors seeing them.

The whole idea of this script is for my final year project. To be honest I really couldn't careless if it didnt make any money (not that I monetized it) all I want is feedback on how it can be improved, thats all im asking.

Maybe I should have put up this link instead.

    http://www.phpexpertsystem.com/computer/

What idea? So you know of an expert system that a non programmer can use where all he would have to do is edit a CSV file ? My expert system is basic and of course this idea has been done but what's different is all data is taken from a CSV file. Now do you know of an expert system that a non programmer can use ?

    Thanks.

Well I'm looking at a problem for example
your car broke down no mechanic availiable
this script could be adapted for car diagnosis,
would you not go to the last page for a description?

    my computer link
    http://www.phpexpertsystem.com/computer/

Lots of people ask "what is the best computer to get"
or something along those line. Im sure they would
go to the end to find the best computer wouldn't they?

Again its all targetted traffic, you guys clearly are
    not targetted traffic.

I don't get what you're trying to say, leave "expert system" out. If it's simple programming with a simple form then can you tell me how I programmed it. If you think its data thats been echoed out from the php file then your wrong.
The data comes from a CSV file. Why is it so wrong to call it expert system, if im not mistake an expert system holds a domain of knowledge and this is it, regardless of whether the creater is an expert.

Again I've not monetized the site, so i'm really gonna waste my time getting dud traffic?

Just feedback on the script would be nice.

    1) "Experts" will not find this useful at all. Maybe newbies will find it a little bit useful, but this script is not for experts.

    2) It was definitely not "expertly" coded or designed

You clearly don't understand what an expert system is.
    Look itup on wikipedia
No one said it's for experts. The script is designed for those that
want a solution, whether computer purchasing, or any other
    knowledge domain.

Well of course its not "expertly" coded!
What are you trying to get at?

Except your users won't understand that, since they aren't computer programmers. I've actually taken some Computer Science courses, so I know what an expert system is, but the first thing I think of when I hear "expert" is someone who is very knowledgeable...

What wont they understand? You dont need to be a programmer to edit a CSV file. You dont need to be a programmer to draw a decision tree do you now. I think you missing the whole point of this script. This script is a shell, so according to you, you have to be an "expert" to use the shell...

How did you get on to that questions. Have you been reading the thread properly?

Look lets agree to disagree and leave it there. All I'm trying to do is get constructive feedback for my dissertation...not stuff like this is shiet, useless, etc

What problem do you have with me? You was at it in my other thread and now this?
