Yeah, the traffic is not much compare to other keywords such as make money online. But you are right, the competition for it is really really though.

 

Yeah, I totally agree. Getting on 1st page of Google for non buyer keywords doesn't mean much. But, I do think that for this keyword, with the right monetization you can get something back for your work.

 

Thank you all for your support. As for those who ask for a bit detail about what I did, I really didn't do anything beside what we always are told on this and other forums. All the normal whit hat seo stuff that we should do, but sometimes we lose motivation, because they take some time to payoff. Anyway, here is what I have been doing in the past year: (Now, keep in mind what I said before, that when I started my blog last year, I had no idea how any of this stuff worked, so I did not spend all this time just doing the work. Most of the time was spent just learning, making mistakes and learning more. But non the less, I did put a lot of hours into the methods that I am going to list below):

Submitted my blog to as many blog directories as I could Here are a few:

Submitted articles to as many dofollow and nofllow article directories as I could:
(I submitted the same articles I published on my blog to them without changing anything. If you have time, change it, but if you don't, its ok as well, at least in my opinion. However, I always made sure I publish on my blog first and wait for it to get indexed before I submitted elsewhere, so my blog gets credited for the original content.)

Social bookmarked each post on my blog Sometimes manually and sometimes automated with onlywire(its free, there are other free ones as well)


Pinged each post with Pingler.com Its also free. But if you use wordpress, be careful wordpress automatically pings your posts, but it also pings it when you edit the post, which I heard could make you look like spam. So, I disabled the auto pinging (wp dashboard- setting- writing- delete "update services" and hit save changes.) and just did it manually with pingler.


Installed ComLUV plug-in (only for wp) and commented on comluv enabled blogs. Wordpress is set to automatically make comment links nofollow. This plugin turns them to dofollow. plus, some sites allow you to put your keywords in the name field, whcih means you get a dofollow backlink with your keyword as anchor text instead of your name. I really did take time to read the post and leave quality comments. Spamming doesn't help anyone.


I turned each and every article to PDF using OpenOffice (best free software) and submitted PDFs to document sharing sites. Here are a few:

Again, spamming doesn't work, the best way is to genuinely participate and contribute to them. I am sure you all have a few Forums you are members of.

Please:
Don't make the mistake I made and I know many others do too. Don't take my post here as god given words and get so busy doing the exact same things and making sure every little detail is right and this and that. Not every method works for everyone the exact same way. It all depends on your skills, your dedication, how much time and effort you put into it and etc. Just pick a few method, work on them, then move on to others. Meanwhile, you will find one method that works best for you, take that method to the next level. For me, article submission was and is the best one. i like doing it and it does give me results.

I am not saying dont do other things, I am just saying, don't pick my post word by word, site by site, to try to do it exactly as I did. You will burn yourself out and you will give up, like I did many times.

Really though, I hope this is not coming across as me trying to show off, it really isn't my intention here. I haven't been that big of a success and even if I was there, it wouldn't matter. I am posting this, because I know there are lost of people here who are like me, always thinking "oh we cant do this, I will never succeed, Other people have money to spend, they know this and that and etc". I just want to tell you that we can all do it if we really really do the work, not just doing it for 2 days and waiting for 2 months to see results, of course you don't get any results., the we give up and say this method isn't working. You don't need money to do this. yes money does help and save you time her and there. But if you are a beginner and don't have money, there are plenty of free tools and softwares and of course free information from people on this and other forums and blogs that can help you do this.


Bottom line is this:
If you put enough time and effort into it, you can do this, no matter how big your competition is and how much money they spend.

Thank you all for your support guys. Just an update, I moved up again and now I rank #3 for the keyword (ways to make money online) on Google. Very excited about it and just trying to do whatever I can to stay there and maybe even move up another spot. Though its very hard with the big competition (101waystomakemoneyonline.com) who has been there for years now.

Of course, all the traffic in the world won't help if you don't have good content that will entice them to keep coming back for more. Thanks.

Thanks. I don't really count my backlinks, but I never stop building them either. I explain in detail (a few posts before this one) what methods I use.

That's a lot of hard work to make your blog rank. Truly respect you for doing that. I think a lot of us know the techniques but we are just not doing it. Instead, we are looking for the next shortcut and "loophole", the gurus like to call it.

You are right, all of us know what to do, but sometimes we just waste time looking for that magic button that doesn't really exist. If you do the work, you will get there.
I am going to continue to work on this blog. The next step is to take it from page 4 of Google for the big keyword "make money online", to the first page. And that is going to be even harder, since the competition is much bigger and better for that keyword.
