yeh, it is very low payout. do some keyword research and find some good paying keyword for your niche that advertisers want to pay more. you basically get a fraction of the money google gets from their advertisers for a click. if you want to get more, then focus on good paying keywords and drive a LOT of traffic to your site

Have you tried different ad networks? Maybe running a trial period of pay per impression rather than clicks would yield more?
    What is your website about?

Pay per click ads, banner ads, in fact.... Internet ads; Don't make very much money. That's across the board. I have been doing some interesting research on the subject regarding internet revenue. Fact is... Only a few very large companies (like Google, Amazon, etc.) actually make money.

When I talk of "money" I don't mean a few hundred or a few thousand, I am talking about a living with the internet as their main income source.

There are a few (supposed) gurus that make a tidy sum, yet there is no way to prove or disprove that information. The only thing you have is what they claim. I am certain that the right niche at the right time will create revenue in the short term, but unless it is so exclusive, or so in demand, that people have to have it, then I would say that most people eek out a few bucks once in awhile and that's about it. There are those that trick people into "clicking off" through a Google ad or whatever. I call those "Adsense traps" and yes, they make a buck or two, but not enough to call it a career move. That much I am certain of.

I am also certain some blowhard will get on this thread and brag about how much they make online, but that is mostly bravado talking.

Find a product no one else has, or a viral website concept and get it acquired by a major company. Those are the two real money makers on the internet.

And a buck and some change is not that bad for 35 clicks. What were you expecting? You need more clicks=more traffic. The fact that you got 35 clicks is a pretty good sign that people are clicking off of your site via your ad links. That could be good or bad, depending on what you want from your website. The average is usually 3-5 visits before people feel at home enough to check out your advertising. People might just be opting to get off of your site and using your ads to achieve that.

    Something to think about.

The big issue in my opinion is that I simply have no idea how much money Google is making on my back. If they choose to pay me 1 cent a click, I'd like to know what they get for it.

    Thanks everybody.

You have to create multiple sites in different niches to make any real money in adsense. Sure some people make a killing off one website but as a business model that's how I'd approach it.

Yes, it is your niche problem. Do you have a blog about random things? If it is a blog about randomness, then all your ads will be about 1-3 cents.
